Chris Matthews: Alinsky ‘our hero’

Just five days after affirming on air that he is a liberal, MSNBC host Chris Matthews exclaimed that radical community organizer Saul Alinsky is one of his heroes.

Stated Matthews: “Well, to reach back to one of our heroes from the past, from the ’60s, Saul Alinsky once said that even though both sides have flaws in their arguments and you can always find something nuanced about your own side you don’t like and it’s never perfect, you have to act in the end like there’s simple black and white clarity between your side and the other side or you don’t get anything done.
“I always try to remind myself of Saul Alinsky when I get confused,” Matthews said on his “Hardball” show, speaking to guest Sen. Bernie Sanders, a self-described democratic socialist, on the topic of President Obama’s health care plan.

Gingrich Asks The Question We Have Been Asking For Four Years

While on Talk Radio with Dana Loesch of the Dana Show on St Louis’s FM 97.1, Newt Gingrich was asked about the Washington Post journalist tweeting openly looking for dirt on him, Gingrich replied “I wish the media would crowd source what Obama did at Columbia University and I wish they would crowd source and figure out what he did with Saul Alinsky’s ideas on the south side of Chicago. The news media has never found itself excited about the facts about Barack Obama.”
If Gingrich is the Republican nominee, this is the type of tough action he will need to take with Obama and the media.

Ten Questions for Russell Longcore
posted by Bill | November 30th, 2011
Publisher’s Note: Russell is one of my favorite freedom voices in the blogosphere. His perspective is well-informed and incisive. He and I have unknowingly been charting parallel courses in advocacy of secession as the only means to achieve true freedom. He was gracious enough to provide the following interview. Be sure to visit his always scintillating blog at DumpDC.

What advice do you have to have for folks who are preparing for what I consider the inevitable break-up of the united states.

"Keep preparing. Turn lots of your Federal Reserve notes into silver coins and bullion. Buy as much ammunition in various calibers as you can. It will be crucial for barter. Stock your shelves for at least a six month supply of food. And start to discuss NOW what you will do when neighbors, friends or even family show up at your door after the collapse. You cannot take in everyone. If your stores would support a family of three for six months, and you take in another three family members, you’ve just cut your stores to three months. And start thinking NOW about your threshold for pulling the trigger on someone. I promise you that no matter where you see yourself along that continuum, reality will call you to change your mind or die. Some very sobering decisions await you.

But think of what it would be like to live in a new sovereign state where the money was backed by precious metals. There would never be inflation. The wealth of the world would flood into that new nation, seeking a haven. The best and brightest would want to live there. Unemployment would not exist. All business would boom. The prosperity would be the greatest in the history of the world. That state would make Galt’s Gulch a living, breathing reality."

The Chain of Obedience

Fall of Europe

The Myth of the Arab Spring Underdog

Ever since the Arab Spring began videos have been making the rounds of massacres in Syria and Bahrain, photos of violent protests in Egypt, excited tweets, bloodied faces, Molotov cocktails and all the rest of the revolutionary chatter.

It is tempting to side with the people battling tanks, even when you don’t know why they are battling them. That was how Americans ended up cheering an alliance between the anti-American leftist Kifaya movement and the Muslim Brotherhood in Cairo against the Egyptian government. Or backing an Al-Qaeda linked Islamist group against Gaddafi in Libya.

America was built on revolution and sympathy for the underdog is in our national DNA. But it can also lead us to mistake a difference in force for a difference in moral standing. Just because one man has a Molotov cocktail and the other man has a tank, doesn’t mean that the man with the burning bottle in his hand is any more right than he is.

In a conflict there are two possibilities. Either one side is more moral than the other, or both sides are equally repugnant. Or close enough that it makes no real difference. Looking at the disproportion in force is not a useful guide and provides no relevant answers.

Just because a regime is repressing a populist faction does mean that we should feel sorry for them. The Nazis and Communists both started out as populist factions being repressed by the authorities, and when they took power, they made the abuses that had come before them look like spring flowers and sunshine.

Revolutions often begin with the oppressed and end with repression. The true test of whether a faction deserves our support is not the dramatic photos of protesters waving flags and darting through the flames or the government responding with clubs and bullets. (It is doubtful that even the most bleeding heart liberal would have retrospectively opposed putting down the Nazis by any means possible.) The only meaningful test is what the protesters actually stand for.

Drama is cheap and what looks like a cry for justice often becomes a mandate for oppression. When a Tunisian vendor was slapped by a policewoman, he touched off a chain of events that ended with the Islamists coming to power, bringing about a Tunisia where few women will serve in the place or enjoy civil and legal rights. Who really deserves sympathy in that encounter, the illegal fruit vendor or the policewomen of Tunisia?

It is only when you look at the bigger picture that the consequences can be seen.

Right off the bat we can disregard slogans calling for “democracy” or “power to the people”, these are so ubiquitous that they have virtually no meaning. Populism is all well and good, but what matters are the details of their agenda. The populism of a totalitarian ideology such as Islam, Nazism or Communism has no value or worth. Totalitarian ideologies exploit populism, but only abide by it so long as the will of the people comes out their way. When the public mood shifts, then the bayonets are fixed and the prisons open up.

Whether it's Occupy Wall Street or Tahrir Square, protests are calculated to create the image of a popular uprising supported by the people. Whether or not the people actually support it and whether even those who are dissatisfied with the government share their agenda are questions that fall by the wayside in the media's coverage. And even if a movement does represent the majority, will it also disenfranchise the minority?
The failure to ask those questions has transferred the Middle East out of the hands of one set of tyrants and into the hands of another set of tyrants who represent a totalitarian ideology that will not only repress the people inside their country, but are engaged in a war against the entire free world.

Yes, Obama Wants to Win

It's downright strange that at a time when the field of Republican candidates has narrowed down to a few bad choices and the left has finally fielded its own answer to the Tea Party movement, that some pundits on the right are still cheerfully pushing the meme that Obama is all but done.

Sure it would be great if Obama were lying on the floor in a pool of spilled beer while humming songs from Sesame Street, but that is not what's going on. And adding false self-confidence to the mix is about the worst possible thing to do.

Yes Obama wants to win and worse still he's on track to win. It doesn't matter how low his ratings are, so long as his opponent's ratings are even worse. This is not a campaign that he has to win by being the better man, he just has to sit there and let the press destroy his opponent.

Obama does have one thing in common with some of the pundits predicting his imminent demise, they're both sure that they can't lose. But Obama has grounds for thinking that. Far better grounds than the cheerleaders who insist that anyone the Republicans run will win in a landslide in every state.

The lack of a traditional campaign on the D side of the line means nothing. 2008 wasn't a traditional campaign either. Is Obama tossing away the white working class vote? He won without them in 2008. The unions have no choice and the rest can go to hell. Obama is saying mean things about Americans? He did that in 2008 too and it didn't slow him down.

All that arrogance can easily lead to a fall, but so can the arrogance on our side. No one should believe that this will be an easy or simple election. It will be long, hard, ugly and at times seem unwinnable. There will be fraud, personal attacks that we have yet to even imagine and press involvement that will dwarf anything in 2008. And most of all it will be unexpected.

Using leftist occupations of public spaces in major cities as the kickoff to a campaign. How many people saw that coming and how many expected it to work? But it worked well enough to engage the younger voters who helped boost him last time around. And it's not the end of the show.

Occupy a Life Dipwads

You have to love reality smacks at a time like this

David Everitt-Carlson, a homeless liberal blogger in New York City is seen begging, painting and pontificating at Camp Anonymous in NY. After a few years in Asia, he hit bottom in Vietnam, and was recently repatriated by a US State Deparment program for indigent expats. The government picked him up at the airport and delivered him to a homeless shelter in midtown Manhattan. He has enjoyed becoming a bit of a cause célèbre for an eager press looking for a new “poster-child” to “put a different face on the issue” of homelessness. As the photo above illustrates, he is still a flaming liberal, but after living eight weeks among the crack-heads and murderers that inhabit his new “homeless” world, a few rays of reality have pierced the fuzziness of his artsy-lefty mind-box. From his blog:

"The last few months have been fraught with soul searching. “How did I get here?” … And what I have come to realize is that once one succumbs to the psychological mind frame that allows a person to live as a “professional homeless,” the battle has been lost. You will have become what you fear most. And compromises must be made to live on a state owned bed and just $200 in food stamps and $45 cash a month that the government allows you. One of the men in my room at the shelter is a loan shark for crack heads. He loans them $20 and they give him back $40. [talk about greed!] Another can sell three packs of cigarettes a day at the shelter, one by one, and pocket maybe $20. And not a one of them is looking for a job – they already have jobs. In fact, in my entire time at the shelter I have not met one single person who mans the commercial job hunt and is really trying to work themselves out of the system – rather, they learn how to gig the system – how to get the most out of it that they can in legal or less than legal ways. It is not exactly a breeding ground for role models."
I love it when liberals are mugged by reality. Hopefully he keeps having epiphanies like this and develops into a mature conservative who can really do some good in the world by creating wealth and employment for himself and others. Good luck, and I hope you find your way out of your liberal box, sir!

‘Table Has Been Set For A Worldwide Nuclear War Against Israel’

Presidential candidate and Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann stopped by Glenn’s NYC radio studio Monday for a talk that spanned national security, the possibility of economic collapse, and the implications of a second Barack Obama term.

Congresswoman Bachmann laid out her expansive policy knowledge, foreign affairs acumen, and expressed her deep concerns about the future of the country.

Among her most stark analytic points was that “The table has been set for a worldwide nuclear war against Israel.”

Rep. Bachmann also added that “We can’t think we are invincible just because we are the United States of America.”

When Glenn pushed her on the possibility of civil war, Bachmann responded ominously: ’We Are Headed For Harder Times Than People Realize.’

No Irony Here?

So this is what real Democracy looks like according to the OWS movement?

A few idiots can force law-abiding citizens to not be able to use public streets to go to work and school or home and the police can't do anything about it? Doesn't anyone see the hypocrisy in this?

First Amendment and OWS in LA

Don't you love how they pick which amendments they invoke while they trample on ones they don't like?
Hey... what about the Second Amendment too?
You don't think that my rights are equal to yours?
Duh, all people are created equal, its just some people (marxists)
are more equal than others?
"I am not a Marxist."
-Karl Marx
And I always thought Groucho said that

I always said they would resort to cannabalism after the Food Lion had been looted. The Zombie Apocalypse is coming sooner than we think.

I wish someone would do a reality TV show on these people and just follow them around with a camera, it would be hilarious to watch idiots in their daily lives trying to create their idea of nirvana.

Thanks Ringo for recording this one day in the life of losers.

Ain't Bob Dylan

But its just as stupid and naive as his 60s version was.

Bug out Bag firearm selection

In the old days survival meant coping with the weather and finding food while trying to find your way out of the woods, across a desert or in the middle of a large body of water. Now with the uncertainty of the worlds economy, hatred of westerners, christians, conservatives and white males in general by those who are tired of playing their guilt cards and want
to see those they hate suffer, survival is taking on whole new meanings.
We are approaching a time when merely hunkering down in your home and riding out the storm may not be enough. You may find yourself at work 20 miles from home when the SHTF. The roads may become impassable and the cellphones may stop working. Have you thought about keeping a bug out bag in your car in case you have to hoof it home? Here are some ideas that may
help protect you enroute.
Different versions of the SUB-2000 will accept most modern handgun magazines, e.g. S&W, Glock, Keltec, Sig or Beretta. By rotating the barrel upwards and back, the SUB-2000 can be reduced to a size of 16""x7"" to facilitate secure storage.
Glock 22 "The U.S. law enforcement pistol". Today, countless police units in the United States and throughout the world put their trust in the 15-round Glock 22.

You can't beat a Henry AR7 22 cal and a comparable 22 revolver or semiauto for survival needs. This combo will bring down most animals, is light weight, fits in a BOB well and can even keep a threatening person away long enough for you to get out of Dodge. This was my practice for years until I found a new duo I like.
May I present the KelTec sub 2000 and the Glock model 22. Both are .40 cal, lightweight, small and concealable and very affordable. If you want some real firepower the Keltec folds in half for carrying and with a quick flip becomes a lethal carbine. It has interchangable mags with the Glock 22 so no need to carry different mags for each firearms. Anything from 15 to 30 round mags will fit both.

LA Thanksgiving

This is straight from the LA Times.
PC gone awry? In LA?
If you were a sitcom writer for Pravda you
couldn't make up a better story comrade.

Insulting stereotype, or harmless holiday feast?
District agrees to drop costumes from kindergarten Thanksgiving party. Some parents insist it's political correctness gone awry.
November 25, 2008|Seema Mehta | Mehta is a Times staff writer.

For decades, Claremont kindergartners have celebrated Thanksgiving by dressing up as pilgrims and Native Americans and sharing a feast. But on Tuesday, when the youngsters meet for their turkey and songs, they won't be wearing their hand-made bonnets, headdresses and fringed vests.

Parents in this quiet university town are sharply divided over what these construction-paper symbols represent: A simple child's depiction of the traditional (if not wholly accurate) tale of two factions setting aside their differences to give thanks over a shared meal? Or a cartoonish stereotype that would never be allowed of other racial, ethnic or religious groups?

Obama’s Secret Plan To Destroy The Second Amendment By 2016

by Wayne LaPierre, NRA Executive Vice President
If you want a glimpse of a genuine nightmare for America, just look at what’s headed our way.
But unlike a nightmare, this isn’t some fantasy. It’s a very real, very dangerous conspiracy of public deception intended to destroy your Right to Keep and Bear Arms. It’s targeted directly at you.
And it’ll succeed unless you recognize it, understand it, and take action now to stop it.
The best way you could do so is by carrying your new 2012 membership card (see sidebar story on page 29) in your wallet as a symbol of your commitment—and by renewing or upgrading your NRA membership or making a contribution to defending freedom today.
But first, let me give you the facts, evidence, congressional testimony and documented words and deeds that reveal the frightening but irrefutable truth about this sinister plot.
Over the past three years, the Obama administration and its anti-gun allies have been engaged in a silent but sophisticated long-term conspiracy to:
1. Neutralize gun owners and NRA voters as a political force in national elections, and thereby:
2. Win re-election to a second term in the White House, where they then will be immune to the will of voters and free to continue consolidating and misusing their ever-increasing power to:
3. Prosecute a full-scale, sustained, all-out campaign to excise the Second Amendment from our Bill of Rights through legislation, litigation, regulation, executive orders, judicial fiat, international treaties—in short, all the levers of power of all three branches of government.
And the key to their success lies in keeping gun owners like you in the dark.

The Next War

By Oliver North (Archive) · Friday, November 18, 2011

JUPITER, Fla. -- Not one of the old "frogmen" or young Navy SEALs who gathered this week at the nearby National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum for the annual Muster wants to see another war. Those who came here are veterans of combat spanning from World War II to the present wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to numerous other unnamed fights around the world. Within their ranks are men -- and their families -- who know what it means to go in harm's way, often without any recognition or public acclaim.

The widow of a slain SEAL put it this way: "Before my husband deployed to Afghanistan the last time, he told me, 'It's not important our son know what I did as a SEAL. What is important is that he knows why I did it: so that he would never have to.'" Unfortunately, despite the courage and sacrifice of his parents, their young son may well face a very dangerous future.

It is an unalterable fact of human nature that the perception of weakness invites aggression. For us, it has been that way since the founding of the republic. We disarmed after the American Revolution. That's how we ended up with the War of 1812.

Just a year before a million U.S. troops were dispatched to save France in World War I, Woodrow Wilson promised our countrymen that there was no risk in cutting our defenses, because we would not be involved in "Europe's war." When the war ended on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, we immediately slashed defense spending -- and our president told us we could rely on "collective security" from the League of Nations.

In 1939, with Imperial Japan running amok in Asia and Adolf Hitler's legions on the march across Europe, the U.S. military was the 17th-largest in the world. In Washington, Republicans and Democrats -- at loggerheads over President Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal economic programs -- barely could agree on allowing conscription. In 1941, the draft extension passed by just one vote in the House of Representatives. By the end of the war, more than 16 million Americans had served.

Even before the Empire of Japan surrendered on Aug. 15, 1945, the Truman administration was demobilizing U.S. military personnel, ships and aircraft returning from Europe. Assurances that the United Nations would be the guarantor of global peace made Draconian defense cuts permissible over the next five years. We "hollowed out" the U.S. armed forces -- just in time for communist North Korea to invade and nearly destroy the Republic of Korea. By the time the "police action" ended, more than 5 million men had been drafted into service, and more than 36,000 of them were killed -- and we once again cut the size and budget of our military.

A decade of sparse defense spending yielded the Vietnam War, another 58,000 war dead and the inevitable cuts in military budgets when the conflict in Southeast Asia ended so ignominiously in 1975. Four years of Jimmy Carter's incompetent economic strategy, blissfully naive foreign policy and devastating reductions in our intelligence services and armed forces produced disasters on a global scale. By the time Carter departed from his one term in office, we had witnessed more than a dozen anti-American revolutions, the collapse of six governments friendly to the U.S., rampant Soviet expansionism, the rise of violent radical Islam and scores of U.S. diplomats and citizens murdered and held hostage.

It took Ronald Reagan's unwavering commitment to "peace through strength" for us to begin rebuilding our nation's defenses. He overcame international opposition and congressional intransigence to fund, build and -- when necessary -- use U.S. forces to protect American citizens and interests. The construction of a new generation of ships, aircraft and weapons systems -- including the Strategic Defense Initiative to protect American cities from attack by ICBMs -- put millions of Americans to work and brought down the Soviet empire.

Two years after Reagan's second term, it took the volunteers recruited in his presidency, using the weapons and equipment built while he was commander in chief, less than 100 hours to evict Saddam Hussein's invaders from Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm. After the victory parade, we again cut our military budget to reap a "peace dividend."

The terror attacks of 9/11 required yet another "rebuild." But now, after a decade of war in Afghanistan and Iraq, the Obama administration is following the too-familiar pattern and gutting America's defenses. The O-Team already has canceled weapons systems, cut military personnel strength and stopped construction of new ships, aircraft and facilities to "save" $450 billion over the next 10 years.

Worse, unless the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction can agree on how to reduce our federal deficit, U.S. military expenditures will be cut by another $550 billion. Meanwhile, a brutal anti-American regime in Iran is moving at full speed to build nuclear weapons and the means of delivering them.

The Obama administration tells us not to worry. It promises that cutting defense won't put us at risk and that a new round of United Nations sanctions will deter the ayatollahs' atomic aspirations. But to many of the veterans gathered here, it sounds more as if we're preparing to be unprepared for the next war.

Can you say Hypocrite?

After eight weeks of Occupy Wall Street protesters filling Zuccotti park in downtown Manhattan, a police raid Tuesday left it nearly bare. But a few days before the protesters were evicted, "The Daily Show" got in one more eye-opening segment, this time highlighting the movement's inner class warfare.

Collectively dubbed the "Least Toileted Generation" by Jon Stewart, it might be a good thing that the Zuccotti park protesters cleared out when they did. According to the on-the-streets report from Samantha Bee above, the occupiers were actually in danger of emulating the very things they were fighting against: classism and elitism.

"The Entire System Has Been Utterly Destroyed By The MF Global Collapse" - Presenting The First MF Global Casualty

BCM Has Ceased Operations (source)
Posted by Ann Barnhardt - November 17, AD 2011 10:27 AM MST
Dear Clients, Industry Colleagues and Friends of Barnhardt Capital Management,

It is with regret and unflinching moral certainty that I announce that Barnhardt Capital Management has ceased operations. After six years of operating as an independent introducing brokerage, and eight years of employment as a broker before that, I found myself, this morning, for the first time since I was 20 years old, watching the futures and options markets open not as a participant, but as a mere spectator.

The reason for my decision to pull the plug was excruciatingly simple: I could no longer tell my clients that their monies and positions were safe in the futures and options markets – because they are not. And this goes not just for my clients, but for every futures and options account in the United States. The entire system has been utterly destroyed by the MF Global collapse. Given this sad reality, I could not in good conscience take one more step as a commodity broker, soliciting trades that I knew were unsafe or holding funds that I knew to be in jeopardy.

The futures markets are very highly-leveraged and thus require an exceptionally firm base upon which to function. That base was the sacrosanct segregation of customer funds from clearing firm capital, with additional emergency financial backing provided by the exchanges themselves. Up until a few weeks ago, that base existed, and had worked flawlessly. Firms came and went, with some imploding in spectacular fashion. Whenever a firm failure happened, the customer funds were intact and the exchanges would step in to backstop everything and keep customers 100% liquid – even as their clearing firm collapsed and was quickly replaced by another firm within the system.

Everything changed just a few short weeks ago. A firm, led by a crony of the Obama regime, stole all of the non-margined cash held by customers of his firm. Let’s not sugar-coat this or make this crime seem “complex” and “abstract” by drowning ourselves in six-dollar words and uber-technical jargon. Jon Corzine STOLE the customer cash at MF Global. Knowing Jon Corzine, and knowing the abject lawlessness and contempt for humanity of the Marxist Obama regime and its cronies, this is not really a surprise. What was a surprise was the reaction of the exchanges and regulators. Their reaction has been to take a bad situation and make it orders of magnitude worse. Specifically, they froze customers out of their accounts WHILE THE MARKETS CONTINUED TO TRADE, refusing to even allow them to liquidate. This is unfathomable. The risk exposure precedent that has been set is completely intolerable and has destroyed the entire industry paradigm. No informed person can continue to engage these markets, and no moral person can continue to broker or facilitate customer engagement in what is now a massive game of Russian Roulette.

Doug Casey: How To Prepare For When Money Dies

An eye-opening interview with renowned speculator Doug Casey, conducted by Karen Roche and JT Long of The Gold Report. I encourage you to read the entire report. It directly addresses what I am warning people about, the coming troubles and what to do on a personal level.

"If dollar-dumping turns from a trickle into a flood, look out. Exploding prices (aka exorbitant inflation) resulting from the devaluation of the dollar will compound the problems we saw in 2007–2009. Catastrophe will come when everybody realizes that the dollar is an "IOU nothing." That's the downside in the decade(s) ahead, according to Casey Research Chairman Doug Casey. But an optimist at heart, in this exclusive interview with The Gold Report, Doug also identifies some reasons to be hopeful.

The Gold Report: You've been talking about two ticking time bombs. One is the trillions of dollars owned outside the U.S. that investors could dump if they lose confidence. And the other is the trillions of dollars within the U.S. that were created to paper over the crisis that started in 2007. Are these really explosive circumstances that will bring catastrophic results? Or will it just result in a huge, but manageable, hangover?

Doug Casey: Both, but in sequence. One thing that's for sure is that although the epicenter of this crisis will be the U.S., it's going to have truly worldwide effects. The U.S. dollar is the de jure national currency of at least three other countries, and the de facto national currency of about 50 others. The main U.S. export for many years has been paper dollars; in exchange, the nice foreigners send us Mercedes cars, Sony electronics, cocaine, coffee—and about everything you see on Walmart shelves. It has been a one-way street for several decades, a free ride—but the party's over.

Nobody knows the numbers for sure, but foreign central banks, and individuals outside the U.S., own U.S. dollars to the tune of something like $6 or $7 trillion. Especially during the recent crisis, the Fed created trillions more dollars to bail out the big financial institutions. At some point, foreign dollar holders will start dumping them; they are starting to realize this is like a game of Old Maid, with the dollar being the Old Maid card. I don't know what will set it off, but the markets are already very nervous about it. This nervousness is demonstrated in gold having hit $1,900 an ounce, copper at all-time highs, oil at $100 a barrel—the boom in commodity prices.

Some countries are already trying to get out of dollars, but it could become a panic if the selling goes from a trickle to a flood. So, yes, it's a time bomb waiting to go off, or maybe a landmine waiting to be stepped on. If a theatre catches fire and one person runs out, soon everybody rushes toward the door and they all get trampled. It's a very serious situation.

TGR: If panic erupts on the U.S. dollar, would products manufactured in the U.S. become super-cheap or super-expensive?

DC: They would become super-cheap. Everybody says that devaluing the dollar will stimulate U.S. industry because the products will become cheaper and foreigners will buy them. This is a huge canard everybody repeats and nobody thinks about. Yes, it is true for a while, but if devaluation were the key to prosperity, Zimbabwe should be the most prosperous country in the world as it has already collapsed its currency.

A strong currency is essential for a strong economy. Sure, a strong currency can hurt exporters for a while. But, a strong currency encourages manufacturers to invest in technology, and become more efficient. It rewards savings and results in the growth of capital that's critical for prosperity. A strong currency allows businessmen to buy foreign companies and technologies at bargain prices. It results in a high standard of living for the country, and yields social stability as a bonus. The idea that decreasing the value of currency to stimulate exports is a short-lived, stupid and counterproductive solution to the problem. People seem to forget that while the German currency was rising about sixfold from its level of 1971, and the Japanese yen about fourfold, those countries became the world's greatest export economies. It didn't happen despite a strong currency, but in large measure because of it.

TGR: Given that the U.S. is the world's biggest consuming nation, wouldn't fleeing the dollar create a big consumer vacuum in the international community? Doesn't the rest of the world want to keep up the high level of exports to these U.S. consumers?

DC: That's exactly why the U.S. is in such trouble; it's idiotically focused on consumption, while only production can create prosperity. The world doesn't need to stimulate consumption. This is another canard, because everybody has an infinite desire for goods and services. I know for myself, I'd like not just a car, but 10 Ferraris, a couple of Gulfstreams and 10 houses around the world. So, by myself, I have an infinite desire for goods and services. Multiply that by 7 billion other people. The only way to gratify those desires is by producing enough to trade with other people to give you what you want. When so-called "economists" think the problem is that we don't have enough consumption, that shows that the profession itself is bankrupt. It's actually quite embarrassing."

Conjecture: ‘Did Mossad kill Iran’s missile research?’

This is my suspicion. It seems all the stories about an Israeli strike on Iran was disinformation. It was a cover for this operation.

A key figure in Iran’s missile program has been killed in an explosion at a Revolutionary Guard base in the country. Some reports suggest that the blast which killed Brigade General Hassan Moghaddam and 16 others may have been an act of sabotage.

General Moghaddam was a senior officer involved in developing new long-range ballistic missile designs, and Tehran says many of its missile program’s successes were due to his special skill and expertise.

He and 16 others were killed on Saturday when a shipment of artillery shells detonated at a military site some 25 kilometers west of Tehran. The blast also left 16 people wounded.

US-based radical left-wing commentator Richard Silverstein, who is reputed to have contacts in the Israeli military, said in his blog that he was told the explosion was the work of Mossad. His source said Israeli intelligence had been working with an exile group, the People’s Mojaheddin of Iran.

Speculation that the blast was not accidental had been voiced in the Israeli media. No official comments confirming or denying the allegations have been circulated, and none are expected.

Suspicions of secret Israeli operations against Iran have been raised on several occasions. Several senior scientists involved in the country’s controversial nuclear program were killed last year in a series of bomb assassinations.

Patriot Journalist....sounds like an oxymoron doesn't it?

New 11/11/11 “Restore the Constitution”
Published November 8, 2011 | By Jim O'Neill
“The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil Constitution, are worth defending at all hazards; and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors: they purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood, and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men.”
Samuel Adams (1722-1803)

For various reasons the last video that I announced for the “Restore the Constitution” rally being held on Veteran’s Day in Washington DC, has been supplanted by a new video, which is currently accessible on YouTube.
Please pass the word along, if you have not done so already. Hope to see you there!

Tribute to a fallen brother in arms

This day of rememberance for veterans who gave their lives to buy our freedom, is not just for our American fallen but also a tribute to Allied Nations who fought and died beside us. A close friend of mine lost his nephew in 2006 in Afghanistan and wrote the below poem in rememberance.

By Dr. Peter Mcguire
" A poem I wrote in 2006, on the occasion of my nephew’s first deployment to Afghanistan. Capt. Jonathan Snyder, SMV, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, was killed in action as he led a night patrol of Afghan National Army. He was awarded posthumously, Canada’s second highest military honour, the Star of Military Valour. "

Jonathan, Oh Jonathan!
Step carefully, pace well
In your footsteps, tread our hopes
In your pathways, follow our souls

Whither goest thou, Johnny-Canuck?
Step carefully, Oh Canada
Lest you get lost
Lest woe betide you, Johnny-boy
For this nation bickering is borne
From our ancestors
To our children’s children
By good women, hard men
In their shed blood
Wilderness and suffering
Sacrifice sublime

Your self is our self
Your presence is our presence
Have dignity
Bide of a day in those dreamy fields
Of remembrance
Tolerance of intolerance is no virtue
Liberty and freedom are no vice
We shall all be forced to choose the path
Ere the cock crows thrice

Jonathan, Oh Jonathan!
Step carefully, pace well
In your footsteps, tread our hopes
In your pathways, follow our souls

Step carefully, Oh Johnny-boy
For your every mist
Is our ocean’s mystery
Your every breath
Is our mountain’s breeze

The Most Noble of American Patriots

By Mark Alexander · Thursday, November 10, 2011

Veterans Day 2011: A Tale of Two Marches
"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks nothing worth a war, is worse. A man who has nothing which he cares more about than he does about his personal safety is a miserable creature who has no chance at being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself." --John Stuart Mill
Semper Vigilo, Fortis, Paratus et Fidelis.
Across our nation, there is a sharp division between two groups of Americans marching to very different drummers.

I am not referring to the current politics of disparity promoting class warfare between the 35 percent of statists (dependents who label themselves "99 Percenters"), and the other 65 percent who are hard-working and self-reliant American citizens. The former are busy fomenting socialist protests in urban centers across our nation while the latter are busy working and caring for their families and communities.

Rather, the division I note is made plain by the vivid contrast in character between two groups -- those on the frontlines in defense of Liberty versus those who seek to subvert it.

On the right side of Liberty, we have American Patriots in uniform who, since the dawn of our great nation, have put their lives, fortunes and sacred honor on the line "to Support and Defend" the Liberty enshrined in our Constitution.

On the wrong side of history, we have Leftist cadres loyal to Barack Hussein Obama, who seek to supplant republican Liberty and its principle expression of free enterprise with socialist democracy. Although the so-called "99 Percenters" are marching to Obama's beat, their protests are trivial compared to the endemic threat to Liberty posed by the rest of the Leftist hegemony in control of our central government.

Could the contrast be any starker?

The threat of Obama's minions notwithstanding, I am greatly encouraged, especially on Veterans Day, by the fact that American Liberty is defended, first and foremost, by the current generation of Patriots within our Armed Services, and the plurality of citizens who support them. It is fitting that we would reverently honor those whom, for generations, have sought to defend Liberty.

Veterans Day began as Armistice Day, when on 11 November 1921, the remains of an unknown World War I American soldier were buried in Arlington National Cemetery, in recognition of WWI veterans and the official cessation of WWI hostilities "at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month" of 1918. President Warren Harding requested that "All ... citizens ... indulge in a period of silent thanks to God for these ... valorous lives, and of supplication for His Divine mercy ... on our beloved country." Inscribed on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier are the words, "Here lies in honored glory an American soldier known but to God."

The real story behind the bin Laden kill

Is anyone surprised that Osama (given the code name ‘”Crankshaft’” by the SEALS) used his wife (actually one of his four wives “Amal”, the youngest one) as a human shield? We have seen this so many times before with the Palestinians. All of these low life’s die like the moral cowards they truly are.

It was 1 a.m. on May 2 in Abbottabad, Pakistan, when Osama bin Laden felt his house shake.

The terror boss — the man who had killed thousands and proudly masterminded the 9/11 attacks — jumped from under his comfortable blankets in a panic and struggled through a sleepy haze to figure out what was going on.

He had a $25 million bounty on his head. But this compound — with its stark, dirty rooms and grandmother’s-house odor — had been a safe haven for years.

That was all about to end. The Navy SEALS had come for him.

“He had 90 seconds to live,” writes Chuck Pfarrer, a former SEAL Team Six commander in his new book, “Seal Target Geronimo,” which provides a never-before-seen look into the inner workings of the mission to take out Osama bin Laden.

The accounts in the book — which differ from the official government version in many details — come from the very SEALS who were on the mission, to whom Pfarrer had special access.

Operation Neptune’s Spear began on a dusty base in Afghanistan at about 10 p.m. on May 1 — when two ultra-silent Stealth Hawk helicopters took off and headed across the Pakistani frontier to the compound 120 miles inside the border.

The crafts, named Razor 1 and Razor 2, took three hours to make the trip. They were shielded from Pakistani radar by jamming equipment on an EA-6 Prowler.

They glided across fields and orchards outside the town of Abbottabad at altitudes as low at 20 feet.

Finally, they touched down.

Contrary to the official story, Razor 1 didn’t crash before the SEAL team entered the building. It balanced on the roof of the main house, while Razor 2 hovered above the apex of the compound’s triangular perimeter.

“As Razor 1 hovered, the down blast of it rotors poured a hurricane into the narrow space of [bin Laden’s] terrace, hurling a pair of plastic chairs against the windows,” Pfarrer wrote. “A violent gust of air hammered the sliding glass doors . . . The curtains next to the open door flailed into the room pulling the curtain rods out of the wall as they fell.”

This arrival apparently had a terrifying effect on bin Laden.

“Osama threw back the blanket from his bed. He tried to put his feet on the floor, and he could feel the house shake.”

In another deviation from the official story, Pfarrer told The Post that his sources are adamant that the SEALs entered via the third floor, from the roof, and did not conduct the raid from the ground up.

Also, in yet another contradiction, there was no pitched fire fight before they found the terror leader. They faced very little opposition.

In just seconds, the SEALS jumped a few feet down from their helicopter and made their way across the roof to bin Laden’s terrace.

They went through glass doors and saw his third wife, Khairah, in the hallway.

Moments later, they saw bin Laden — whom the SEALs code named “Crankshaft” and sometimes “Burt” — pop his head out into the hall and “loudly” slam his bedroom door shut.

They had him.

“One of the operators hit his inter-squad radio and called out, ‘Geronimo, Geronimo, Geronimo,’ indicating that he had ‘eyes on’ [bin Laden],” Pfarrer wrote.

Before the SEALs could get into the his room, his son Khalid bin Laden ran to the top of the stairs and encountered the SEALS.

As he approached them, he saw a green aiming laser sweep toward him. Instead of running for his life, he continued toward the SEALs. Two shots were fired.

“Khalid was struck in the chest just below his throat,” Pfarrer wrote. “He twisted forward, landing on his right side with his arm tucked under his head.”

Moments later, it was time to begin the endgame.

The first SEAL reached bin Laden’s door and kneeled down. He waited two seconds, until he felt another SEAL move in behind him for backup. Then he kicked in the door and both entered.

Pfarrer wrote that when SEALs enter a room they go into a state of “Zen consciousness.” Seconds feel like minutes, and events seem to unfold as slowly as a slide show.

“Time dilates,” he wrote. “All of a SEAL’s senses are magnified; the smallest sound, the slightest smells, the textures of the floor and the wall, all are burned into his consciousness.”

As they entered the room, the blinding lights of their weapons illuminated two figures — bin Laden and the youngest of his four wives, Amal.

The woman was shouting, “No, no, don’t do this . . . It’s not him!”

Contrary to a May 3 statement from the White House — which said bin Laden was not armed — he did have a gun, Pfarrer writes. He was not carrying it, however; it was lying by the headboard.

When he saw the SEALs, he lunged to grab it.

He used his wife as a human shield, by shoving her at the SEALs. Then he scampered across the bed where the AKSU machine pistol was lying.

“The man was moving toward the bed, just reaching it, diving across it — but all of this seemed to be unfolding like a slide show: click, click, click,” the book says.

Then four shots were fired: two rounds and two rounds.

“The first round sailed past Osama’s face and thudded into the mattress. Osama shoved Amal as he clawed across the bed. A second bullet, aimed at Osama’s head, grazed Amal in the calf,” the book says.

As his wife crouched, wounded, bin Laden continued to reach for his gun. He never made it.

“Two US Navy M855 5.56mm Predator bullets slammed into him. One struck him next to his breastbone, blowing apart his aorta. The last bullet went through his skull, killing him instantly,” the book says.

“Geronimo Geronimo Geronimo third deck” came over their headsets.

The whole takedown took between 90 and 120 seconds.

Meanwhile, Razor 2, on the roof the guest house, created a down blast that caused cows and chickens in the back yard to scurry away. Someone inside awoke.

“A shadow moved in front of one window and then another, and then a door opened,” Pfarrer writes. “Two people crowded the doorway; one carried an AK-47 assault rifle.”

It was bin Laden’s courier Abu Ahmed al-Kuwaiti, the man whose frequent trips to and from the compound aroused the suspicions of intelligence officers and led to Osama being located.

Later, they would find that bin Laden’s right-hand man, Ayman al-Zawahiri, who they referred to as “Ernie,” made the courier system purposely obvious, writes Pfarrer. He wanted to wrest power from bin Laden. So he gave the Americans a signal to his whereabouts. It seemed his scheme worked; Zawahiri became the head of al Qaeda in June.

Kuwaiti raised the gun and shot bullets out into the darkness.

“Bust him,” one of the men ordered.

A sniper aboard the helicopter fired.

“Kuwaiti was blown off his feet. His AK-47 spun in a half-circle up and out of his hands. Two of the bullets passed through his chest and killed the person standing behind him. It was his wife.”

President Obama and his senior advisers watched the raid in the White House situation room from a video feed provided by a drone 15,000 feet above the compound.

When Obama heard the words, “Geronimo, E, enemy. Killed in action,” he told his staff, “We got him.”

They couldn’t see bin Laden being shot, but they could see the incident at the end of the raid, when Razor 1 went down with team members still inside.

The famous photograph of various leaders in the situation room watching in horror — and Secretary of State Hilary Rodham Clinton holding her hand over her mouth — captures this moment.

Bad people in control

The recent question posed on SHTF School is very austute, Why do bad people prosper during bad times and good people have a hard time?

Selco's reply;
"First i do not think some things can be changed, yes in every specific situation, collapse, SHTF event i believe worst kind of people will be in charge, or try very hard to be in charge.

Yes, i think our society and way of living make us weak, most of us.
When SHTF weak people vanish or connect to group with strong leader, to survive alone bad or good it is way to hard, problem is in fact that in desperate situations great number of people turns from good to bad.

You see in desperate situation man have tendency to gradually loose his morale, most of the people. It is easy to discuss this things in normal times and say “i ll stick to my decisions” but when is come to your life or life of your family member good man probably will do some bad things.
When you describing situation in your country it is like you are describing situation in my country, here is also everything going down, family values, respect, political situation crime and you can also feel anger here, like everything going to blow That is another reason why i believe things going to be bad again.
In hard times there is no democracy, if he do not obey, he is not a member and leader should be man who is capable to make decisions in tough time, it is not so hard to shoot you know, it is hard to make some decisions in hard situations.
I strongly believe that good cooperation between people in collapse can be made only in rural communities, very small places, where people know each other very well, where people are not so adapted on some things that make life in modern city.
And what to do with lazy unskilled member? Nobody was lazy in my time, if he is lazy he do not eat.
In towns everything come to smaller groups like families. In my case cooperation between street members was more based on fear then trust."

My reply to the question;

It seems to be basic human nature. People always look for the easiest way to get their needs met. In normal times it is easier to follow the social expectations, cultural norms, to get what you want. The consequences of not doing so are usually financial penalty or jail time. When social order breaks down people feel they will do whatever it
takes to maintain their life. Higher reasoning like, “we are all in this together so we have to help each other out”,
does not exist in people who only exhibited a veneer of civility in the first place. The veneer is only a facade used
so they can fit in and exist without to much trouble within a culture.
A social researcher , Lawrence Kolberg, did some work in the stages of moral development. It states the majority of adults never develop beyond stage 2 (self-interst) and 3 (conformity) and that the final stages 5 and 6 only occur in the most principled people who stive to attain them. Stage 5 and 6, which involves formal logic and moral reasoning. are where you need your fellow humans to be when you are in a SHTF situation. Stage 2 and 3 are where most people will be and who will be your enemies in SHTF.
Its scary that the majority of our culture doesn’t develop the ability to do formal logic, ever during their lives.

So what is it that American Communist and Socialist don't get?

In this Sept. 30, 2011 photo, a man drives commuters in a horse drawn carriage in Santa Isabel de Las Lajas, Cienfuegos province, Cuba. Private businesses are popping up on Cuba's main streets, in places hard hit by the decline of Cuba's sugar industry and the general economic malaise that has settled over the country after more than half a century of Socialist rule. (AP Photo/Franklin Reyes)

SANTA ISABEL DE LAS LAJAS, Cuba (AP) — On sleepy streets plied by rickety horse-drawn carts and rusting 1950s automobiles, the sounds of commerce are once again being heard in Cuba's countryside.

A private sandwich shop has opened in a town previously served only by a grim state-run cafeteria. A woman sells trinkets from a small spot of shade. A weathered farmer in dusty jeans has rigged up an ancient ice cream machine and is selling cones for 8 cents a pop.

Out of sight of Cuba's dollar-spending tourists, in areas where money from overseas relatives trickles in only sporadically, dusty towns like this one slowly are being revitalized by a series of private enterprise initiatives ushered in by President Raul Castro.

Visits to more than a dozen towns in the central provinces of Cienfuegos and Sancti Spiritus found private businesses popping up on every main street, places hard hit by the decline of Cuba's sugar industry and the general economic malaise that has settled over the country after more than half a century of Socialist rule.

William Butler Yeats (1865-1939)

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: a waste of desert sand;
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Wind shadows of the indignant desert birds.

The darkness drops again but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

Obama Gives Rise To A Beast

The Arab Spring blossoms into the Summer of Jihadist Islam heralding the Winter of Doom for the West as Obama empowers Radical Islam to global supremacy.

“A Tall black man will assume the reigns of government in the West. He will command the strongest army in the earth, and he will carry a clear sign from the Third Imam, whose name was “Hessei Ibn Ali“. – Shi’a End-Time Prophecy, Iman Ali Ibn Abi-Talib

As the Islamist prophecy goes, this ‘tall black man’ is a forerunner of the Mahdi/12th Imam, the Islamic Savior who will conquer the earth for Islam; a counterfeit of John The Baptist as the forerunner of Christ. The clear sign’ this man will deliver to the Umma, is that he presides over the destruction of the infidel nations from within, and then delivers the West into the hands of the Caliphate to crush and annihilate.

Islam sees Obama’s policies as another sign of the West’s decline and the triumph of Islam, and the events of the last few weeks no doubt has given confidence to Jihadist Islam that Obama is their sign as he gives rise to what will become a global beast.

The Washington Times is running two editorials that each address a frightening litany of actions and policies by the Obama regime that are shaping an Arab and Persian Middle East that will one day soon, become a bane to our very existence.

Jeffrey Kuhner addresses the domino fall of Arab nations to radical Islamists

President Obama is empowering radical Islam across the Arab world. He is presiding over both the American decline and the rapid advance of our mortal jihadist enemies….Muslim fundamentalists have used street protests against corrupt, autocratic regimes as a Trojan horse to expand Islamic militancy.

while the Arab Spring falls into an Islamist Winter .

Populist Socialism on the Rise

The "99 Percent" are really the "35 Percent" but their cadres are growing
"The moment the idea is admitted into society that property is not as sacred as the laws of God, and that there is not a force of law and public justice to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence. If 'Thou shalt not covet' and 'Thou shalt not steal' were not commandments of Heaven, they must be made inviolable precepts in every society before it can be civilized or made free." --John Adams, 1787

By Mark Alexander · Thursday, November 3, 2011

The populist message of the Occupy Movement, the agelessly adolescent class warriors who make up Barack Hussein Obama's Red October Uprising, now has the support of some 35 percent of Americans, mostly urbanites.

The Occupiers have now infested cities from coast to coast, including Oakland, Seattle, Denver, Austin, Chicago, Atlanta, Baltimore, New York and Boston.

Their mantra is simple (by necessity): "We are the 99 Percent, and we're all victims of the 1 Percent." By any objective standard, the 99 Percenters are not the brightest bunch, and they really represent the roughly 20 percent of Americans who are irrevocably dependent upon government subsidies and pay no income tax. Thus, this 20 percent has no vested interest in the cost of government and is predisposed to vote for the redistribution of others' incomes rather than work for their own. The underlying assumption is that it's easier to confiscate wealth than create it.

After The Collapse - Who Will Your Neighbors Be?

Dr. William Stockton celebrates yet another birthday surrounded by family and friends in the midst of a grand suburban paradise. The party is warm, and the evening is filled with joy and merriment. These people singing his praises, laughing and imbibing generous amounts of spirits, are neighbors he’s known for over 20 years. He understands them well, or at least, he thinks he does…

The good doctor, as his neighbors often point out with a jabbing chuckle, is a prepper; a brand of survivalist who participates in the day to day routine of mundane American life while using his spare time to safeguard against unforeseen disaster. His friends view this behavior as an amusing curiosity, an eccentric hobby, but none take it nearly as seriously as William does. It’s not that he is paranoid; far from it. In fact, William Stockton is a professional, a man of sense, and a man of family. He merely lives in an era of great potential danger, where nuclear war and societal collapse are anything but fantasy. Stockton takes these issues into account as an individual, and acts according to the severity of his environment. Much more than his neighbors, he represents legitimate rationality.

Unfortunately for the doctor, and for those who live around him, the days of wine and frosted cake are about to abruptly end as a Civil Defense emergency bulletin blares over the wire. The reality that today’s comforts could disappear in the blink of an eye sets into the minds of the frightened listeners. And soon, we begin to witness the TRUE character of those William once held dear.

This scenario might sound like a familiar consideration to many of us, but for now it remains the stuff of nighttime TV. So begins a rather prophetic and ingenious episode of The Twilight Zone entitled “The Shelter”…

The fascinating thing about “The Shelter” is that it is one of the few short stories showcased in The Twilight Zone (a science fiction program) which hasn’t a single element of science fiction within it. “The Shelter” is terrifying exactly because it is NOT a product of wild imagination, but a representation of social fact that cuts to the calcium rich bone of our culture, even 50 years after it aired on television.

Diversity Is Strength! It's Also The End Of Southern Civility… And The South

The South is the most distinctive of the American sub-nations and if every nation is a facet of God’s design, than surely Dixie has inherent worth. Literature, language, the military tradition, religion, and all the other aspects of the Southern culture are in some ways a reflection of the agrarian, traditionalist ideal reflected in the writing of Faulkner or the authors of I’ll Take My Stand.

However, the survival of any culture necessitates the value of certain ideals, customs, and loyalties above others, and so inherently contradicts the one world, egalitarian ideal of liberalism. Just as America is now nonsensically defined as a “nation of immigrants” so Southern culture must be deconstructed and explained away into nothingness.

Kim Severson is part of this Southern dispossession. A non-Southerner, lesbian, and former vice-President of the National Gay and Lesbian Journalists Association, Severson serves as the Atlanta bureau chief of the New York Times and promoted the campaign against the Southern company Chick-fil-a, a rare privately owned chain restaurant that closes on Sundays and promotes Christian values in line with Southern beliefs.

Foodies like Kim Severson would rightly regard it as a tragedy if the diverse culinary traditions of the world were homogenized and commercialized into one vast McWorld. But at the same time, the New York media cannot help but crusade against any culture, value system, or tradition that would seem out of place at a faculty luncheon at the New School.

They want it both ways—to enjoy “authentic” local culture while making sure that no high school in Alabama mentions Jesus.

Southern civility, Southern language, and even Southern cuisine cannot exist without a Southern people. As Sam Francis famously stated there is not “any reason to believe that [a] civilization can be successfully transmitted to a different people.”

This goes beyond the South—because all of America is facing the same question.

Another American Century or Another American Civil War?

Here is another writer I follow. You can read his entire collection here;

"Americans tend to be skeptical of any criticism of their country coming from Europeans, which understandable given the amount of anti-Americanism spewing out of the European press these days. However, there is some truth in the old maxim that “clarity is gained from a distance.” Just as Americans may sometimes see more clearly than Europeans how Muslim immigration is destroying their continent, perhaps it is possible for a European to notice some developments in the USA, too.

The following account is written by a European who wishes your country well, partly because I like it and partly because I, unlike too many of my countrymen, understand that the USA is still the best insurance we have for a civilized world order. It worries me all the more to see that many of the same negative trends that are threatening to destroy Europe are also present in the US."

35 percenters

This is encouraging news to hear about sixty five percent of muslims, now what about that thirty five percent?
"At the siege of Vienna in 1683 Islam seemed poised to overrun Christian Europe.
We are in a new phase of a very old war."

Strong Support for Shariah in Canada

OTTAWA - A newly released survey suggests a large number of Muslims living in Canada will not disown Al-Qaida.

The study, conducted by the MacDonald Laurier Institute, found 65% of Muslims questioned said they would “repudiate absolutely” the terrorist organization, while 35% would not do so.

“From a security perspective, it is difficult to know if a 65% rate of repudiation (of Al-Qaida) is re-assuring or a 35% failure to repudiate troubling,” wrote study authors Christian Leuprecht, associate professor of the Royal Military College of Canada and Conrad Winn, Carleton University professor and president of COMPAS, a public opinion research firm.

“The most radical political views tended to be expressed by relatively secular people, often equipped with higher education in the social sciences, while devout Muslims were sometimes the most articulate advocates for Canada and democracy.” According to the Ottawa based think tank, only a small minority of Muslim newcomers to Canada reject Hamas, Hezbollah, or the Iranian regime.

The survey, which was released Tuesday, found 62% wanted some form of Shariah law in Canada, 15% of them saying it should be mandatory for all Muslims.

The report also states support for extremism is just as high among Muslims born in Canada, or other Western countries, as it is among those hailing from oppressive dictatorships.

The survey involved phone interviews with 455 Muslims in Ottawa, between May and July 2008, with a margin of error of five percentage points. The study was funded by the University of Maryland for the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism. The institute could not find funding for the study in Canada.

Home / Security / Violent Deaths

One of the sites I follow is SHTF School. A personal recount by two Bosnians
who survived the ethnic and religious war there. They were isolated and unable to leave their town for a year surviving starvation,constant artillery shelling, snipers, roving gangs, disease, cold weather and any number of things most Americans have never encountered. I urge everyone to read these stories and learn from people who have lived what we will soon be facing here in USA. You can link to their site here;

"I guess when you look all together most common cause of death was from fire weapon, it was a war after all, but on the other side if we talk about civilians in town then i believe in the beginning people died mostly from shelling and firing, then from all kind of diseases and malnutrition.

During a daytime people get killed from snipers on regular basis, i mean if you really have to go out because of something, there were something called snipers alleys, so if you knew where to walk, run actually i guess you had some chance to survive (from snipers).

There was of course open parts on streets or between houses where you had to run and take chances, sometimes just hoped in chance that guy on the other side with sniper had lunch break or something like that.

People get killed from snipers on many ways, woman sneak to river to get some things to wash or to collect water, or just guy who goes out on open to check what is going on.

Guy who i knew got killed on one of the usual ways at that time. First sniper wounded man in legs and make him laying and cant move, guy is calling for help, crying, then someone came to help. The sniper wounded first guy who came to help him, then wounded second guy who came to help them, then nobody else came to help them, then sniper killed them all.

Usually “good” snipers did not killed people with first shots, because nobody gonna come to help dead man. I watch that kind of situations in movies, I ve heard later that is “normal” sniper strategy, but to see that in reality is something different, especially with civilians, it is haunting.

It is real horror to hear grown up man screaming in pain, crying, asking for mercy, some people could not stand that. On the other side, one of my neighbors, chronic alcholic once walked 500 meters openly on street during day time, he was completely drunk, sniper did not shot him, not sure why, but we have sentence here that “God saves fools ” so i guess that is the reason. He survived everything, died few years ago, from alcohol intoxication.

Shelling was other story, it was a constant thing, there was time of peace, time without shelling, but periods like that did not last more than few hours, all kinds of thing fallen on city all the time, i read much later somewhere that in worst period of that SHTF city were devastated with around 500 shells daily. People were torn apart, dismembered with cuttings, sometimes people laterally disappeared in some kind of mist or red fog and small pieces if they were directly hit, I ve seen that."

Republicans Have No Character: Negro Proof.

And so we all live with established hypocrisy, no one being able to express how they really feel about anything or anyone. We’ll be sued. If we may paraphrase Shakespeare’s Hamlet, it is not conscience, but attorneys, which makes cowards of us all. Of course, their just working stiffs, trying to make a living themselves.

And so the whole ineviscerable impaction of society constipates itself in the bowels of the courts. Mercy on the judges, who abide in the stench day after day, year after year.

But, a political cartoon as a threat to “acting” president Barry? A comic strip disrespectful? What can an alien, lying, black African Communist Muslim traitor expect in the way of honor and obeisance from American patriots? Is a cartoon really that hurtful? I thought blacks had tough skin, no? Apparently not. Apparently that skin of theirs can be used to justify or condemn–anything. Tough isn’t the word. Powerfully manipulative–especially in the political hands of whites in power.

Republicans, politicians and media gurus, have proven themselves completely incompetent, dishonest, weak, and slavish. This is the lowest point in American political history.

Sheep, Wolves and Sheepdogs

The following essay (an extract from the book, 'On Combat') was written by Lt. Colonel Dave Grossman, U.S. Army (Ret.) Director, Killology Research Group ( Colonel Grossman ia a great public speaker if you get the chance to see him, go. He authored the book - "On Killing: The Psychological Cost of Learning to Kill in War and Society"

On Sheep, Sheepdogs, and Wolves
By Dave Grossman
One Vietnam veteran, an old retired colonel, once said this to me: "Most of the people in our society are sheep. They are kind, gentle, productive creatures who can only hurt one another by accident." This is true. Remember, the murder rate is six per 100,000 per year, and the aggravated assault rate is four per 1,000 per year. What this means is that the vast majority of Americans are not inclined to hurt one another.
Some estimates say that two million Americans are victims of violent crimes every year, a tragic, staggering number, perhaps an all-time record rate of violent crime. But there are almost 300 million Americans, which means that the odds of being a victim of violent crime is considerably less than one in a hundred on any given year. Furthermore, since many violent crimes are committed by repeat offenders, the actual number of violent citizens is considerably less than two million.
Thus there is a paradox, and we must grasp both ends of the situation: We may well be in the most violent times in history, but violence is still remarkably rare. This is because most citizens are kind, decent people who are not capable of hurting each other, except by accident or under extreme provocation. They are sheep.
I mean nothing negative by calling them sheep. To me it is like the pretty, blue robin's egg. Inside it is soft and gooey but someday it will grow into something wonderful. But the egg cannot survive without its hard blue shell. Police officers, soldiers, and other warriors are like that shell, and someday the civilization they protect will grow into something wonderful. For now, though, they need warriors to protect them from the predators.
"Then there are the wolves," the old war veteran said, "and the wolves feed on the sheep without mercy." Do you believe there are wolves out there that will feed on the flock without mercy? You better believe it. There are evil men in this world and they are capable of evil deeds. The moment you forget that or pretend it is not so, you become a sheep. There is no safety in denial.
"Then there are sheepdogs," he went on, "and I'm a sheepdog. I live to protect the flock and confront the wolf."...
If you have no capacity for violence then you are a healthy productive citizen, a sheep. If you have a capacity for violence and no empathy for your fellow citizens, then you have defined an aggressive sociopath, a wolf. But what if you have a capacity for violence, and a deep love for your fellow citizens? What do you have then? A sheepdog, a warrior, someone who is walking the hero's path. Someone who can walk into the heart of darkness, into the universal human phobia, and walk out unscathed.
Let me expand on this old soldier's excellent model of the sheep, wolves, and sheepdogs. We know that the sheep live in denial, which is what makes them sheep. They do not want to believe that there is evil in the world. They can accept the fact that fires can happen, which is why they want fire extinguishers, fire sprinklers, fire alarms and fire exits throughout their kids' schools.
But many of them are outraged at the idea of putting an armed police officer in their kid's school. Our children are thousands of times more likely to be killed or seriously injured by school violence than fire, but the sheep's only response to the possibility of violence is denial. The idea of someone coming to kill or harm their child is just too hard, and so they chose the path of denial.
The sheep generally do not like the sheepdog. He looks a lot like the wolf. He has fangs and the capacity for violence. The difference, though, is that the sheepdog must not, cannot and will not ever harm the sheep. Any sheepdog who intentionally harms the lowliest little lamb will be punished and removed. The world cannot work any other way, at least not in a representative democracy or a republic such as ours.
Still, the sheepdog disturbs the sheep. He is a constant reminder that there are wolves in the land. They would prefer that he didn't tell them where to go, or give them traffic tickets, or stand at the ready in our airports in camouflage fatigues holding an M-16. The sheep would much rather have the sheepdog cash in his fangs, spray paint himself white, and go, "Baa."
Until the wolf shows up! Then the entire flock tries desperately to hide behind one lonely sheepdog.
The students, the victims, at Columbine High School were big, tough high school students, and under ordinary circumstances they would not have had the time of day for a police officer. They were not bad kids; they just had nothing to say to a cop. When the school was under attack, however, and SWAT teams were clearing the rooms and hallways, the officers had to physically peel those clinging, sobbing kids off of them. This is how the little lambs feel about their sheepdog when the wolf is at the door.
Look at what happened after September 11, 2001 when the wolf pounded hard on the door. Remember how America, more than ever before, felt differently about their law enforcement officers and military personnel? Remember how many times you heard the word hero?
Understand that there is nothing morally superior about being a sheepdog; it is just what you choose to be. Also understand that a sheepdog is a funny critter: He is always sniffing around out on the perimeter, checking the breeze, barking at things that go bump in the night, and yearning for a righteous battle. That is, the young sheepdogs yearn for a righteous battle. The old sheepdogs are a little older and wiser, but they move to the sound of the guns when needed right along with the young ones.
Here is how the sheep and the sheepdog think differently. The sheep pretend the wolf will never come, but the sheepdog lives for that day. After the attacks on September 11, 2001, most of the sheep, that is, most citizens in America said, "Thank God I wasn't on one of those planes." The sheepdogs, the warriors, said, "Dear God, I wish I could have been on one of those planes. Maybe I could have made a difference." When you are truly transformed into a warrior and have truly invested yourself into warriorhood, you want to be there. You want to be able to make a difference.
There is nothing morally superior about the sheepdog, the warrior, but he does have one real advantage. Only one. And that is that he is able to survive and thrive in an environment that destroys 98 percent of the population.
There was research conducted a few years ago with individuals convicted of violent crimes. These cons were in prison for serious, predatory crimes of violence: assaults, murders and killing law enforcement officers. The vast majority said that they specifically targeted victims by body language: slumped walk, passive behavior and lack of awareness. They chose their victims like big cats do in Africa, when they select one out of the herd that is least able to protect itself.
Some people may be destined to be sheep and others might be genetically primed to be wolves or sheepdogs. But I believe that most people can choose which one they want to be, and I'm proud to say that more and more Americans are choosing to become sheepdogs.
Seven months after the attack on September 11, 2001, Todd Beamer was honored in his hometown of Cranbury, New Jersey. Todd, as you recall, was the man on Flight 93 over Pennsylvania who called on his cell phone to alert an operator from United Airlines about the hijacking. When he learned of the other three passenger planes that had been used as weapons, Todd dropped his phone and uttered the words, "Let's roll," which authorities believe was a signal to the other passengers to confront the terrorist hijackers. In one hour, a transformation occurred among the passengers - athletes, business people and parents. -- From sheep to sheepdogs and together they fought the wolves, ultimately saving an unknown number of lives on the ground.
"Do you have any idea how hard it would be to live with yourself after that?"
"There is no safety for honest men except by believing all possible evil of evil men." - Edmund Burke
Here is the point I like to emphasize; especially to the thousands of police officers and soldiers I speak to each year. In nature the sheep, real sheep, are born as sheep. Sheepdogs are born that way, and so are wolves. They didn't have a choice. But you are not a critter. As a human being, you can be whatever you want to be. It is a conscious, moral decision.
If you want to be a sheep, then you can be a sheep and that is okay, but you must understand the price you pay. When the wolf comes, you and your loved ones are going to die if there is not a sheepdog there to protect you. If you want to be a wolf, you can be one, but the sheepdogs are going to hunt you down and you will never have rest, safety, trust, or love. But if you want to be a sheepdog and walk the warrior's path, then you must make a conscious and moral decision every day to dedicate, equip and prepare yourself to thrive in that toxic, corrosive moment when the wolf comes knocking at the door.
For example, many officers carry their weapons in church. They are well concealed in ankle holsters, shoulder holsters or inside-the-belt holsters tucked into the small of their backs. Anytime you go to some form of religious service, there is a very good chance that a police officer in your congregation is carrying. You will never know if there is such an individual in your place of worship, until the wolf appears to massacre you and your loved ones.
I was training a group of police officers in Texas, and during the break, one officer asked his friend if he carried his weapon in church. The other cop replied, "I will never be caught without my gun in church." I asked why he felt so strongly about this, and he told me about a cop he knew who was at a church massacre in Ft. Worth, Texas in 1999. In that incident, a mentally deranged individual came into the church and opened fire, gunning down fourteen people. He said that officer believed he could have saved every life that day if he had been carrying his gun. His own son was shot, and all he could do was throw himself on the boy's body and wait to die. That cop looked me in the eye and said, "Do you have any idea how hard it would be to live with yourself after that?"
Some individuals would be horrified if they knew this police officer was carrying a weapon in church. They might call him paranoid and would probably scorn him. Yet these same individuals would be enraged and would call for "heads to roll" if they found out that the airbags in their cars were defective, or that the fire extinguisher and fire sprinklers in their kids' school did not work. They can accept the fact that fires and traffic accidents can happen and that there must be safeguards against them.
Their only response to the wolf, though, is denial, and all too often their response to the sheepdog is scorn and disdain. But the sheepdog quietly asks himself, "Do you have any idea how hard it would be to live with yourself if your loved ones were attacked and killed, and you had to stand there helplessly because you were unprepared for that day?"
It is denial that turns people into sheep. Sheep are psychologically destroyed by combat because their only defense is denial, which is counterproductive and destructive, resulting in fear, helplessness and horror when the wolf shows up.
Denial kills you twice. It kills you once, at your moment of truth when you are not physically prepared: you didn't bring your gun, you didn't train. Your only defense was wishful thinking. Hope is not a strategy. Denial kills you a second time because even if you do physically survive, you are psychologically shattered by your fear, helplessness, and horror at your moment of truth.
Gavin de Becker puts it like this in "Fear Less," his superb post-9/11 book, which should be required reading for anyone trying to come to terms with our current world situation: "...denial can be seductive, but it has an insidious side effect. For all the peace of mind deniers think they get by saying it isn't so, the fall they take when faced with new violence is all the more unsettling."
Denial is a save-now-pay-later scheme, a contract written entirely in small print, for in the long run, the denying person knows the truth on some level.
And so the warrior must strive to confront denial in all aspects of his life, and prepare himself for the day when evil comes.
If you are warrior who is legally authorized to carry a weapon and you step outside without that weapon, then you become a sheep, pretending that the bad man will not come today. No one can be "on" 24/7, for a lifetime. Everyone needs down time. But if you are authorized to carry a weapon, and you walk outside without it, just take a deep breath, and say this to yourself... "Baa."
This business of being a sheep or a sheep dog is not a yes-no dichotomy. It is not an all-or-nothing, either-or choice. It is a matter of degrees, a continuum. On one end is an abject, head-in-the-sand-sheep and on the other end is the ultimate warrior. Few people exist completely on one end or the other. Most of us live somewhere in between. Since 9-11 almost everyone in America took a step up that continuum, away from denial. The sheep took a few steps toward accepting and appreciating their warriors, and the warriors started taking their job more seriously. The degree to which you move up that continuum, away from sheephood and denial, is the degree to which you and your loved ones will survive, physically and psychologically, at your moment of truth.
