Towards the Year’s End, 2013

"Tonight marks the last Sabbath of 2013, at least on the old European Gregorian calendar. But for the repeated manifestations of the sentimentality of the Almighty, we should forgo any inutile, illusory evaluations of the year. It would only be statistics. But what of other, more spiritual concerns? What kind of year was it? Moral evaluations are always in order. Periodical assessments are definitely a divine custom. That’s what High Holidays are all about.
It was a year in which an interloping foreigner in the White House displayed his true colors. It was a year in which the United States of America bore the unmistakable curse of fraud in leadership , irreparable ironies of fool-hardy pretense and profound deception. One Barry Soetoro (a.k.a. “Barack Hussein Obama”) intentionally hood-winked an entire nation, worse than any other “president” in the history of the country (No, he didn’t build that fraud; He had a lot of help.) Hitler Survivor Condemns Gun Control

Katie Worthman was born in Austria, and lived there for seven years under Hitlers brutal regime, and after world war II, she also lived three years under Soviet communist occupation. Needless to say, but Mrs. Worthman is someone who has an acute awareness of how media distorts things and tyranny comes to power. Mrs. Worthman, not only says that the media was wrong about how Hitler came to power, but she says that "In the beginning, Hitler didn't look like, or talk like a monster at all. He talked like an American politician."

She says that the story of Hitler overthrowing governments and people in order to come to power just simply isn't true, but rather the Austrian people elected Hitler with 98% of the vote at the ballot box. Mrs. Worthman then goes on to say that the Austrian people had guns, but the government began to say that they were dangerous, so they began to implement gun registration. Then she said this was followed by turning in their weapons to the police station in order to cut down on crime, and if citizens didn't... there would be capital punishment.

Mrs. Worthman says that the dictatorship, "didn't happen over night, but it took 5 years, gradually, little by little, to escalate to a dictatorship."

She then goes on to say that, "When the people fear the government, that's tyranny, but when the government fears the people, that's liberty."

As a Nazi survivor, what is her advice to us... "Keep your guns, keep your guns and buy more guns."

Hand-To-Hand Combat in OEF

On June 17, 2010, Then-Cpl. Clifford Wooldridge was with his Marines in a humvee when his convoy came under heavy attack from approximately 15 Taliban fighters.

What happened next was astounding.

His Navy Cross citation — reads:

The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Corporal Clifford M. Wooldridge, United States Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving as Vehicle Commander, Combined Anti-Armor Platoon White, Weapons Company, Third Battalion, Seventh Marines, Regimental Combat Team 2, FIRST Marine Division (Forward), I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward) Afghanistan, on 18 June 2010 in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

When their mounted patrol came under intense enemy fire, Corporal Wooldridge and his squad dismounted and maneuvered on the suspected enemy location. Spotting a group of fifteen enemy fighters preparing an ambush, Corporal Wooldridge led one of his fire teams across open ground to flank the enemy, killing or wounding at least eight and forcing the rest to scatter. As he held security alone to cover his fire team's withdrawal, he heard voices from behind an adjacent wall. Boldly rushing around the corner, he came face-to-face with two enemy fighters at close range, killing both of them with his M-249 Squad Automatic Weapon. As he crouched back behind the wall to reload, he saw the barrel of an enemy machine gun appear from around the wall. Without hesitation, he dropped his empty weapon and seized the machine gun barrel.

He overwhelmed the enemy fighter in hand-to-hand combat, killing him with several blows to the head with the enemy's own machine gun. His audacious and fearless actions thwarted the enemy attack on his platoon. By his bold and decisive leadership, undaunted courage under fire, and total dedication to duty, Corporal Wooldridge reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and of the United States Naval Service.

Here's how his summary of action (a longer version of the story, used to approve the citation) recounts the struggle:

Corporal Wooldridge then took cover back around the corner and quickly began to reload. While attempting to reload his weapon, he saw the barrel of a machine gun appear around the corner of the wall just a few feet from him. Without hesitation, he threw his empty SAW to the ground, and grabbed the barrel of the machine gun.

Corporal Wooldridge then wrestled the surprised enemy fighter to the ground. As the two grappled for control of the machine gun, the enemy fighter released the machine gun and reached for one of his grenades in an attempt to kill himself and Corporal Wooldridge. Corporal Wooldridge immediately took control of the machine gun and beat the enemy fighter to death by hitting him with several blows to the head with his own weapon before the enemy could pull the pin on the grenade.

Shortly after, the remaining members of his team came around the corner and witnessed the three dead enemy fighters and Corporal Wooldridge standing over one fighter holding the machine gun.

The Successful Revolution in North America That No One Has Heard About

Can you imagine participating in a protest outside the White House and forcing the entire U.S. government to resign? Can you imagine a group of randomly chosen private citizens rewriting the U.S. constitution to include measures banning corporate fraud? It seems incomprehensible in the U.S., but Icelanders did just that.  Icelanders forced their entire government to resign after a banking fraud scandal, overthrowing the ruling party and creating a citizen’s group tasked with writing a new constitution that offered a solution to prevent corporate greed from destroying the country. The constitution of Iceland was scrapped and is being rewritten by private citizens; using a crowd-sourcing technique via social media channels such as Facebook and Twitter. These events have been going on since 2008, yet there’s been no word from the U.S. mainstream media about any of them. In fact, all of the events that unfolded were recorded by international journalists, overseas news bureaus, citizen journalists and bloggers. This has created current accusations of an intentional cover up of the story by mainstream U.S. news sources.
Besides CNN Europe’s own coverage of the scandal, the events in Iceland were widely covered by international media and are easily verified by a simple search on Google which leads to a variety of reputable international news sources that ran numerous stories on the Icelandic revolution. A whole documentary has been made on the governmental overthrow called Pots, Pans and Other Solutions, and now, the conversation is focused on whether or not the citizens’ actions actually worked to make Iceland a more equitable nation.

The pots and pans revolution in Iceland was not covered by mainstream U.S. media. In fact, any information about this revolution is found only on international newspapers, blogs and online documentaries, not on mainstream front-page articles as would be expected from news organizations covering a story of this magnitude. The New York Times published a small handful of piecemeal stories, blogs and opinion pieces, but mostly glossed over the main narrative by saying the 2008 financial collapse in Iceland caused “mayhem far beyond the country’s borders” rather than pointing out that Icelanders took to the streets with pots and pans and forced their entire government to resign.

Walter Cronkite Says Globalists Serve Satan!

I am astounded to the point of being almost speechless at this. I had always considered Walter Cronkite to be one of the eminent newsmen and spokesmen of the WW2 generation and reflected their values well.
Now I learn that he is one of the early supporters of the leftist, and I believe Satanic, agenda in America.
He is right up there with Saul Alinsky and maybe more of a threat because he appeared on national TV for decades. Watch as he states, " Join me, I'm proud to sit at thr right hand of Satan."

This extended version has the guest speaker Hillary Clinton praising his work

Folks we are not only in a battle for our individual liberty and freedom, we are in a war with
Satan himself and have been for a long time, we just didn't know it, and guess what ? He is winning so far.

NC Jihadist Arrested

— A Cary man is facing a federal charge that he attempted to aid a foreign terrorist organization, according to a criminal complaint filed by the FBI in federal court last week.
Basit Javed Sheikh of Cary is suspected by the FBI of trying to provide support to the Nusra Front that is fighting in Syria’s civil war. His father, Javed Sheikh, said on Monday there “is no truth in that,” referring to the federal allegations.
But a federal grand jury in Raleigh believed there was enough evidence to indict Basit Sheikh to stand trial for the charges. He was being held by Wake County authorities on Monday, according to county records.
Law enforcement intercepted Basit Sheikh on Nov. 2 at Raleigh-Durham International Airport, an FBI affidavit states. He had told a confidential FBI source that he wanted to join the jihad, or holy struggle, in Syria, according to an agent’s affidavit. He said in August that he had secured a job “with a brigade in logistics, managing medical supplies,” the document states.
Sheikh, 29, is a listed resident of 300 Swansboro Drive in the Park Village subdivision. The home near Cary’s western border is owned by the suspect’s father, according to county records.
Basit Sheikh is originally from Pakistan and is a legal permanent resident of the United States, according to an FBI affidavit. He also has lived in the Republic of Seychelles, an island nation in the Indian Ocean, from 1992 to 2000, according to immigration files.
The FBI document, filed Nov. 4 in the Eastern District of North Carolina’s federal court, also documents online posts about jihad, an interview with a Taliban leader, and mujahedeen fighters in Syria – among other topics – from Facebook accounts believed by the FBI to be controlled by Sheikh, according to the document. He used the name “Abdul Basit,” the affidavit states.
“Yes we will return Home …# Not alone ... #With an army to free our (imprisoned) brother’s & Sisters,” Sheikh posted on a link to an article about the influx of foreign fighters to Syria.
The social network has shut down his accounts several times.

"Khalilah Sabra, director of Immigration and Civil Rights at the Muslim American Public Affairs Council, confirmed Monday that federal agents had reached out to Muslims in the Triangle to try to foster a new mutual understanding, and to talk about the U.S. State Department’s list of suspected terror groups."
Why are federal agents reaching out to Khalilah Sabra? She was recruited and trained by Abdullah Azzam – the godfather of jihad and Osama bin Laden’s mentor, she was the Spokeswoman for the convicted ringleader of the Triangle 8 Jihadists, and she calls bin Laden a “Visionary”
Furthermore, Sabra works for a known Muslim Brotherhood entity so there is little doubt her conversations with federal agents are urging the removal of Hamas and possibly other Islamic groups from the terror list.
“From what I understand about the most recent case, it is an isolated incident,” Sabra said Monday.
The agents have been trying, in part, to defuse an atmosphere of suspicion and mistrust that developed in the local Muslim community following the arrests in 2009 of what prosecutors described as a home-grown terror cell based in Johnston County."
Muslims were caught plotting jihad and the feds are trying to defuse Muslim distrust? Every American alive should distrust Muslims pledge allegiance to the Koran and refuse to denounce sharia law and jihad.
"Federal prosecutors contended that agents found almost two dozen weapons and thousands of rounds of ammunition on the home of Daniel Patrick Boyd. A group of eight men were accused of trying to commit terror overseas and at a Marines base near Washington, D.C.
The case highlighted the government’s increasing use of confidential informants to build a slew of domestic terror cases since 9/11 that result in convictions, but raise questions for some Muslims about who they can trust.
Seven of the eight accused in that case are in prison now on a range of charges that include conspiring to provide material support to terrorists."
There were also 3 Muslims sentenced in plot to behead terror witnesses in North Carolina. Mosques in North Carolina have been preaching jihad for decades. Isolate that.

You Only Turn 238 Once in This Life

Who Is The War Criminal ?

Aljazeera News tells us more of whats happening in the world than our own MSM. While we and our allies are busy putting our service men in prison for alleged war crimes, the Taliban is slowly retaking Afghanistan.
Where is the real war crime here ? Is it worse to shoot an enemy combatant who two witnesses say was already dead or to give a country back to our enemies when 3,389 US soldiers and allies died trying to give it a chance for freedom ?

"A British soldier has been found guilty of murdering an injured Taliban fighter in Afghanistan by shooting him in the chest, a British court martial board has found.
The Royal Marine who may be facing life in prison as a result of Friday's decision told fellow soldiers to hush the incident up and acknowledged "I just broke the Geneva Convention'' as he carried out the act, prosecutors said.
The board ruled that the commando, who can only be identified as "Marine A", was guilty of killing the unnamed man in Helmand Province in September 2011.
Prosecutors said the incident took place after the military base was attacked by two fighters. A helicopter opened fire in response, and Marine A, together with two other British soldiers, then discovered the injured Afghan in a field.
The three moved the man to a sheltered area. Marine A shot the Afghan with a nine millimetre pistol, before quoting a phrase from Shakespeare as the man died before him, according to prosecutors.
"Shuffle off this mortal coil [expletive]. It's nothing you wouldn't do to us," the marine was heard saying in a video that captured the incident. The footage was inadvertently recorded by a camera mounted on the helmet of Marine B.
The soldiers told their superiors that the man had died from wounds, but the killing came to light when police investigating other matters found the video on a soldier's laptop. Footage was shown at the court martial.
The three denied murdering the Afghan, and one marine had said he believed the man was already dead.
But a seven-member board convicted Marine A after a two-week trial. The two other marines were acquitted of "encouraging and assisting" in the killing.
British forces have been fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan alongside other international forces since 2001 though coalition forces are set to leave the country soon.
Spike in Afghan troop deaths
Meanwhile, a new US Pentagon report shows that the number of Afghan forces killed in combat has risen by 80 percent over the summer while coalition deaths dropped by almost 60 percent during the same six-month period.
The drop in US and coalition casualties reflects the Afghans' increased role in fighting as well as the ongoing decrease in the number of international forces in the country. As of this week, there are about 48,000 US troops in Afghanistan, down from a peak of slightly more than 100,000 in 2010.
Afghan forces now conduct 95 percent of conventional operations and 98 percent of special operations in Afghanistan.
Coalition forces continue to provide training and assistance and are still needed for air support, security, route clearance for roadside bombs, airlift for wounded or dead troops and counterterrorism operations.
A report said the Afghans, while gaining capabilities are far from being able to sustain the needed force in combating Taliban fighters, who are gaining ground in rural areas where their group had previously held power. "

Have No Fear

I am posting this because I hear a lot of chatter, here and from other liberty groups, that there is a major concern whether the police will support the people or the federal government in the event of SHTF. My opinion is this, it all depends on what starts it and where you happen to be. If someone involved with the restore liberty movement can be blamed for starting it then public opinion and the police will side with the feds. If you are in an urban area the city police will side with the feds, at least initially. If you are in a rural area, the majority of our sheriffs will side with the people. The military is 50/50 as it has had decades of being politicized but they will be the real tie- breaker in the end. Somewhere on the OK site I read one of the OK BOC members say, the focus of OK is on the military as they do not feel the PDs can be expected to side with the people. I think that is exactly backwards.
There is already a major shift by US Sheriffs to confront the federal government.
Read this piece and many of the linked stories and it will give you a better idea what I am talking about.">

How To Become a Billionaire

                                         Zimbabwe 500 000 000 dollars 2008 500000000 dollar Banknote

Its real easy, just buy two of these HERE for 128 USD. The communist racist Robert Mugabe has made this all possible in the once successful thriving country of Rhodesia, now called Zimbabwe. This is how wealth redistribution
and fundamentally transforming a country works. Detroit has already accomplished this amazing feat, other major US cities are soon to follow. In Zimbabwe everyone is a millionaire. Unfortunately being one is no big deal there when it takes a million to buy a loaf of bread.

Is This The Death Knell For Boko Haram?

My guys are kicking ass, just like I trained them to. Ninety dead Boko Haram (Al-Queda in Nigeria) in 48 hours so far. Of course they have one advantage that we don't have, no ROEs and leadership with balls.
I wonder if Obama and Chris Matthews will call me a racist because I trained black soldiers to kill black
muslims who are killing black Christians ? That Rhodesian Light Infantry drill is working great. The intel
function is working pretty good too.

"The Nigerian military offensive against the increasingly violent threat of Boko Haram is looking like it’s moving forward full swing. Over 90 fundamentalists were killed within 48 hours (they claim) in offensive operations conducted in Borno and Yobe states, on or around the 23rd and 24th of October.
One can’t help but wonder – with sporadic success in quelling the violent attacks of Boko Haram in recent months, to inflicting heavy casualties in just a 48-hour period, where is all this valuable intelligence actually coming from?"

Biggest Wave Ever: Brazilian Surfer Carlos Burle May Have Surfed the Biggest Wave Ever

carlos-burle-big-wave-642-380 he may have done so shortly after just casually saving a friend from drowning.

Brazilian Carlos Burle, surfer and owner of huge balls, was surfing the mega-wave spot of Nazaré, Portugal, when his friend and fellow big-wave surfer Maya Gabiera wiped out and was knocked unconscious in the water. Burle reportedly collected Gabiera on a jetski and took her to shore, where other surfers performed CPR and she was taken to hospital, where she remains in good condition, suffering only a broken ankle.

For most people, that would be enough excitement for one day. But not Carlos Burle. He channelled his inner madman and headed back out into the surf, catching this stupidly big wave, which might just turn out be the biggest in history.

The Guiness World Record for the ballsiest man alive highest wave ever surfed is currently held by Hawaiian Garrett McNamara, who caught a hundred-foot monster at the same surf break in January. Burle is awaiting confirmation that his wave broke the record, with onlookers estimating that his wave could have been almost 20 feet higher than McNamara's. Burle is the teeny-tiny speck in the spine-tinglingly huge surge of water in the utterly terrifying picture above.
"It was luck. We never know when we will be catching the wave." Burle told Surfer Today after his death defying display. "I still hadn't surfed any wave and everyone had already had their rides. Maya almost died. For me, it was a big adrenaline moment to get back there after what happened."

The Stand

I have been working on preparing for social collapse for a number of years. During that time I have met a number of individuals who I trust with my life and dearest possessions. I have also met a number of individuals who cloak themselves in patriotism and speak as if they are intimate friends with the founders of this Republic. To hear them tell it, they stood shoulder to shoulder with the minutemen on Lexington Green and years latter led a Confederate charge at Gettysburg. Most of us old military guys and former cops don't have a hard time discerning who exactly just "talks the talk." I have politely let it be known where I stand and what I will do when SHTF occurs. In case you are one of the latter crowd and just haven't gotten it yet here it is again. I do not care for anarchist, communist, socialist, progressives, liberals, muslims and others with dangerous mental disorders. I don't care if you're a Christian or not just so long as you understand and accept God's Ten Commandants. They are pretty much universal standards of decency in all cultures of the world. But don't start preaching Islam to me, thats the one my tolerance does a nose-dive with. My most recent effort toward restoring rightful liberty in America is to join Oathkeepers and help build a local chapter for them.

My next effort will be to disassociate from all people on the internet and in-person who I do not feel really understands what "rightful liberty" means. People I believe are just opportunist using the conservative revival for personal gain and anarchist who just want chaos to develop or may even be government plants who are doing what they are told. I also won't be having much to do with the feeble-minded who can't figure all this out. There are people on the internet and in community groups who are upstanding patriots and who are trying to help good people have a say, Wild Bill for America and Joe Dan Gorman at Intellectual Froglegs are just two. Here is another;
Bottom line is this; If you are one of those who postulate ideas such as, when the feces does fly, "Even the little old lady working in the tax office will be a target for killing by patriots." Or that Americans like Navy SEAL Chris Kyle deserved to be murdered because he did the work of the regime.
It is my belief the founders of this country, people you anarchist frequently quote, would have shot you on sight as nothing more than con-men, scoundrels and highwaymen. If you want to know what sort of people you are associating with just pay attention to what they say and who comments on their websites. Its not hard to see who the real problems in this country are. You will find them on both sides of the aisle.

The Battle for Marjah

As we wind down our troops in Afghanistan, it is important to take stock of lessons learned. This is what a war-torn country looks like after 10 years of war with the Russians, rule by the Taliban for another 10 years and now 12 years of war with us. One big lesson learned is that COIN operations, at least the way we have been doing them, do not work with a people who have lived the way Afghans have been forced to live. You will hear the CIC talking about how we are making a difference in Marjah and Kandahar and are close to
achieving our objectives of giving the people of Afghanistan the freedom to govern themselves. Then you should compare what he says to the words you hear our Generals, Soldiers and Afghan people speaking in this film. One of the snipers the Marines were forced to kill was a local Afghan man, who allegedly did not belong to the Taliban but managed to kill 3 Marines with a WWII  8mm Mauser. He was probably just tired of people with guns coming to his village and decided enough was enough. I resent strongly that my government sends our best to die in such pointless operations and then just walk away from a place of misery they have helped to create. Yes the Taliban sheltered Bin Laden and yes we needed to kill him. He left Afghanistan 30 days after we put boots on the ground 12 years ago. So far we have suffered 3,389 US and allied military deaths during this war. Civilians have suffered an equal number, three fourths of those deaths were caused by insurgents with women and children being targeted in areas we withdraw from. The Taliban especially seek out anyone who has cooperated with coalition forces. We are soon going to join the annals of previous empires who have arrogantly invaded Afghanistan and then slunk away with a stinging ass-spanking. And for what ? One of my cherished war trophies from there is a Russian samovar dated 1889 and has an engraving of Tsar Nicholas II on it. I wonder what artifacts of invasion we leave behind someone will one day find and cherish ?

Soldiers Deck of Cards

Josh Hargis, a Ranger with the 3rd Ranger Battalion, was wounded last week in the attack that left four other members of his team dead. The 3rd was conducting a mission to try to capture a HVT(High Value Target), in the Panjwai district of Afghanistan.

This is what Josh’s wife Taylor posted to her FB:

I received this picture today along with a letter from the commander of the team Josh was a part of on the night of his injuries. A letter to explain to me what kind of man I have the privilege of being married to. He explained to me what happened and what was going on in the picture.

“Josh was seriously wounded as you know, and survived for almost two hours after his injury before arriving to the hospital. Josh was immediately pushed through a series of surgeries and emerged hours later into an intensive care unit here at our base in Afghanistan.
Despite being in intense pain and mental duress, Josh remained alert and compassionate to the limited Rangers that were allowed to visit his bedside. Prior to Josh being moved to Germany for his eventual flight to America, we conducted a ceremony to award him with the Purple Heart for wounds received in action.
A simple ceremony, you can picture a room full of Rangers, leaders, doctors, and nurses surrounding his bedside while the Ranger Regimental Commander pinned the Purple Heart to his blanket. During the presentation the Commander publishes the official orders verbally and leaned over Josh to thank him for his sacrifice.
Josh, whom everybody in the room (over 50 people) assumed to be unconscious, began to move his right arm under the blanket in a diligent effort to salute the Commander as is customary during these ceremonies. Despite his wounds, wrappings, tubes, and pain, Josh fought the doctor who was trying to restrain his right arm and rendered the most beautiful salute any person in that room had ever seen.
I cannot impart on you the level of emotion that poured through the intensive care unit that day. Grown men began to weep and we were speechless at a gesture that speak volumes about Josh’s courage and character. The picture, which we believe belongs on every news channel and every news paper is attached. I have it hanging above my desk now and will remember it as the single greatest event I have witnessed in my ten years in the Army.”

A Soldier Reflects: Spirit of Service Lost in American Politicians

So there I was, no shit, sweating like crazy off in the heat of a dark, muggy Georgia night in July. Packed into a barracks filled with 49 other sweaty bastards, completely bewildered, wondering how the hell I ended up at United States Army Infantry Basic Training at the age of 17, a mere month after graduating from high school.

Thank You For Your Service (A Moment of Truth)

Army nurse from JBLM killed with Special Operations team in Kandahar

By refusing to even talk with conservative legislators this week and ordering the Pentagon to not pay death benefits for soldiers killed in battle this is one example of what his evil Socialist agenda is doing.

A Madigan Army Medical Center nurse serving alongside an elite Special Operations Force in Afghanistan was killed Sunday by an enemy attack that also took the lives of three fellow soldiers from other military bases.
Lt. Jennifer Moreno, 25, belonged to a joint Special Operations cultural support team. It’s one of few ways for female soldiers to go out on combat missions with all male Army Ranger or Green Beret teams.
“We’ve lost a superb officer and a caring nurse who served with marked distinction and honor throughout her career,” said Madigan Command Col. Ramona Fiorey. “We are all deeply saddened by the tragic loss of this great American soldier.”
Madigan’s medical staff occasionally deploys in small numbers to support soldiers in combat. Army records show that Moreno was the first soldier to die in Iraq or Afghanistan while serving under Madigan’s flag.
Moreno was killed in the Zhari District of Kandahar province with Sgt. Patrick Hawkins, 25, Pfc. Cody Patterson, 24, and Sgt. Joseph Peters, 24.
Hawkins and Patterson served out of Fort Benning, Ga. with the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. Peters belonged to the 5th Military Police Battalion out of Vicenza, Italy.
They were hit during a night mission that prevented a high-profile suicide attack in the city of Kandahar, Ranger Regiment spokeswoman Tracy Bailey said. Another person wearing a suicide bomb detonated near the Ranger-led patrol, and then a series of other bombs exploded.
In addition to the four fatal casualties, 30 soldiers were wounded by the explosions, Bailey said.
Moreno was born in San Diego. She received her commission as an Army officer after graduating from the University of San Francisco with a bachelor of science degree.
She graduated from the Army airborne course in 2009 and arrived at Madigan in 2010, where she served as a clinical staff nurse in a medical surgical unit.
Moreno sought an assignment with the Army Special Operations Command Cultural Support Team program and deployed in June.
The assignment calls on American women to interact with Afghan females to gain information that might not be available to male soldiers because of cultural differences. In October 2011, medic Lt. Ashley White was killed on a mission in Afghanistan with two Rangers from Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
Moreno “was a talented member of our team who lost her life while serving her country in one of the most dangerous environments in the world,” said Lt. Col. Patrick J. Ellis, commander of 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. “Her bravery and self-sacrifice were in keeping with the highest traditions of the 75th Ranger Regiment. She was making a difference in Afghanistan and that legacy will live on.”
Moreno is survived by her mother and two sisters in San Diego. Her brother serves in the Army.

Greek Special Forces Issues Ultimatum to Government

I do not understand the exact meaning of the fifteen point ultimatum issued by the Greek Special Forces but I understand the desire to become an autonomous nation free of the EU, the UN and the World Bank to decide their own future as Greeks. Greece has been at war with one invading force after another for centuries and they will be the first to devolve when the next burp in the world's economy occurs. We as a nation (USA) may not be far behind them this time. I once circumnavigated the Peloponnese Peninsula of Greece. One of the historic sites I roamed was Mycenae and the ruins of Agamemnon's castle fort. He was the king of the Greek Mycenaeans and one of the heroes of the Trojan Wars. The citadel is well preserved and being slowly restored. Unaccompanied by anyone I found a secret stairway leading from the fort center and outside the fortified walls. Only someone within the inner circle of the citadel's walls would find it. In the current war we are facing, only someone with access to their own citadel will be spared great unpleasantness. The millions who "hope" their government will save them or an as yet unknown person will ride in and lead them to safety, rather than starting now and preparing as best they can, are sadly going to
learn a hard brutal lesson. There is no secret stairway leading to safety from here, unless you make it yourself. You can follow this Greek drama here, ΔΙΑΚΗΡΥΞΗ Κ.Ε.Ε.Δ. ΤΗΣ 28 ΣΕΠΤΕΜΒΡΙΟΥ 2013

Seven Political Maps That Show How Old Historical Events Still Haunt The World

Earlier today we saw a map that showed just how divided Germany remains, decades after the reunification at the end of the Cold War.
This is the percent of the vote pulled by the Democratic Socialists in Germany's recent election, via the DataIsBeautiful subreddit. You can see that this socialist party remains MASSIVELY more popular in the area that was the former East German.

Germany maps

What's remarkable is that not only can you clearly delineate the former boundaries of East and West Germany, but you can also even see East and West Berlin! The former Cold War divide  strongly influences German politics to this day.
Still, it's not like Germany is the only nation to have history inform modern politics.
Here's a map of Poland's 2007 parliamentary election.
The orange regions are the Powiats (counties) won by the socialist Civic Platform, while the blue are the Powiats won by the conservative Law and Justice platform:

Poland Eelction
That's all quite interesting and what not, but given that I know next to nothing about Poland doesn't covey much meaning.
That is, until you overlay this map of the old border of Imperial Germany and Imperial Russia over the map, as David G.D. Hecht did for the Big Think strange maps blog:

Poland electionThen there's Ukraine. In the 2004 election, the pro-Western Orange Revolution candidate Viktor Yushchenko  lost to the pro-Russian Viktor Yanukovich, according to the Strange Maps blog.

As one commenter noted, this divide essentially rides the boundary line of the ancient extent of the Kievan Rus.
Kievan rus

And of course, the Scots are still voting differently than the English, hundreds of years after the Acts of Union 1707. You'll see a strong Lib Dem presence in Scotland, then a Labour presence at the border in the inset.

It's insane how these European countries are so petty that they can't drop the baggage of centuries-old civil wars and regional conflicts.
Oh, wait.

Nairobi Islamic terror attack reportedly was led by white female Muslim convert, the widow of one of the 7/7 London bombers

The terror attack on a Kenyan shopping centre that has left 68 dead was allegedly being led by the white English widow of a 7/7 London terror attack bomber. Soldiers said a white woman wearing a veil was shouting orders to gunmen in Arabic during the bloody massacre inside the Westgate shopping mall.

Al Shabaab said last night on Twitter that Samantha Lewthwaite, the ‘white widow’ of London 7/7 bomber Jermaine Lindsay, was ‘in their ranks.’. As well as boasting Lewthwaite was with them, Al Shabaab claimed two British men from London, Liban Adam, 23, and Ahmed Nasir Shirdoon, 24, were among the ‘holy warriors’ in the attack. Writing on Twitter, the terrorists said: ‘Sherafiyah lewthwaite aka samantha is a brave lady! We are happier to have her in our ranks!’ Sherafiyah is the Muslim name now used by Lewthwaite. Another tweet read: ‘our mujahideen are prepared to die for our cause!’

"This remarkable book will change the way you look at intelligence, foreign affairs, the press, and much else besides." – R. James Woolsey, former director of U.S. Central Intelligence Agency
Here the reader will discover answers to many crucial questions of the modern era: Why, during the last two generations, has so much of the Western world turned against its founding faith, Christianity? Why have radical Islam, jihad and terrorism burst aflame after a long period of apparent quiescence? Why is naked Marxism increasingly manifesting in America and its NATO allies? What really happened to Russia after the Berlin Wall came down? Like the solution to a giant jigsaw puzzle lacking one crucial piece, “Disinformation” authoritatively provides the missing dimension that makes the chaos of the modern world finally understandable.

Night Vision

"Not everyone has Night Observation/Vision Devices available to them….yet. Many seem to believe that without night vision, one can’t do anything once the sun goes down and therefore, if it’s dark, whoever the opponent is with the most NVD owns the night. When discussing from the perspective of protecting the home and local neighborhood, the subject sometimes is so overwhelming that the thought of operating without NVD’s, street lights, or other forms of artificial light almost paralyzes otherwise adequately trained people.
DTG holds a different view: Low tech can, and in many cases will, overcome high tech, so long as the practicioner understands what he or she must master in order to achieve that goal."

This article discusses how to improve your night vision the old fashioned low tech way.
Courtesy of DTG, read it HERE.
If you want a pair of the sunglasses they recommend you can get them HERE.
These also give excellent ballistic protection and have been proven in OIF/OEF.
There are many ways NVG can be defeated with low tech approaches, just ask the
Taliban or someone who has studied their tactics.

Russian Army to Receive New Kalashnikov Assault Rifles in 2014

MOSCOW, September 17 (RIA Novosti) - Various modifications of a new Kalashnikov AK-12 assault rifle as well as a host of other small arms will be put in service with the Russian armed forces in 2014, a senior government official said.

“In 2014, the Russian army will start receiving new assault rifles, handguns, machine guns and sniper rifles, including 5.45-mm and 7.62-mm variants of the Kalashnikov AK-12 assault rifle,” Deputy Chairman of the Military-Industrial Commission, Oleg Bochkarev, said in an interview with Echo Moskvy radio on Monday.

Development of the AK-12 began in mid-2011. The new weapon retains the overall layout and features of the AK-74, in service with the Russian army since the 1970s, but features several modifications and ergonomic changes.

The new assault rifle has being developed as a basic platform for nearly 20 different modifications of the weapon.

The rifle features three firing modes: single shot, three-shot burst and automatic fire. The muzzle of the AK-12 has been designed to shoot foreign-standard barrel-mounted grenades.

The weapon is also equipped with Picatinny rails to mount optical, and night sights, grenade launchers, target indicators and other special equipment.

The AK-12 has a folding stock, and a height-adjustable heelpiece. The weapon can be used by both left-handed and right-handed people, and can be easily handled with one hand.

The state trials of the AK-12 assault rifle are slated for the fall of 2013.

Voices From Syria

Another post directed to those in the liberty movement here who are hoping for and instigating an armed revolt here in America. Listen to the voices coming from Syria who are experiencing this first hand. You would be wise to work toward radical political change rather than pushing for radical military change. It is my belief, either you have never been in a war-torn place and are completely naive or you are an anarchist instigator, maybe working for the forces of evil who only wish to destroy what decent people have built.

by Jade Salhab
"There are two parts to this brilliant article by Beesaan el Shaikh in Al Hayat which I believe is an imperative read for anyone interested in the Arab uprising.

The first part of the article uses the tragedies generated by the revolution as a very compelling argument NOT to support it. The second part, near the end, turns the argument around making a simple but slam-dunk case for the revolution.

I want to use the first part to rephrase a position I expressed in the very beginning of this revolution, days before the first Assad speech and the subsequent violent turn of the uprising: I expressed then my hope that Assad would do the wise thing and grab the opportunity to reform the regime by himself, because that was the only transition that would avoid destroying Syria, or handing it to Islamic extremists.

I was naïve in my hopes, obviously. But I believe that hope is a moral imperative. I knew then, like all those who lived through Lebanon's civil war, that no matter where it happens on this earth, or why, or how legitimate, when an uprising turns into an armed rebellion, there is absolutely no controlling of the damage it can make to the structure of society and its ability to recuperate post conflict (think Iraq, Lebanon, but also Salvador, Tchetchnia, or Sri Lanka more globally).

The unspeakable price of civil violence in terms of social dismantling (even more so than the toll on human life and heritage), is why I still believe that any people who has regime change in progress (ie Tunisia, Egypt) - or in perspective ( ie Jordan, Morocco, or the Gulf in the coming 5 to 15 years) - must bend itself backwards twice, maybe thrice, before engaging in violent struggle, or violent 'defense of the achieved revolution' - as opposed to radically peaceful rebellion or political compromise.

One of the reasons I respect Moaz el Khatib so deeply is his awareness of this fact, and his courage to remain constantly open to compromise with the regime for the sake of ending violence - because he knows that no matter how high the price of such compromise is, it will always be lower than the one of sustained violence.

Don't get me wrong, just like Beesaan el Sheikh says in her article, I believe that there is no choice BUT to support the Syrian revolution because it is the only legitimate and humanly acceptable path forward. But I certainly hope that idealists learn the lesson and understand that wars are, under all circumstances, unwinnable: because even by winning them, we destroy the basic social infrastructure that makes that victory worth anything.

This might sound obvious to some, but the consequence is less so: only a slower transition, or a stubbornly peaceful uprising can come at a lower cost.

I want to end by drawing a relevance to Tunisia and Egypt: compromise is a high price you might need to pay to avoid the higher price of a torn society. And if compromise is impossible (and it should take a lot before you get to this conclusion), than maintain your struggle peaceful at all cost (ie no military repression of 'medieval forces'). The alternative is worse than you can ever imagine or calculate. "

The Cup of Brandy No One Wants to Drink

 H/T Larry
They once were among the most universally admired and revered men in the United States. There were 80 of the Raiders in April 1942, when they carried out one of the most courageous and heart-stirring military operations in this nation's history. The mere mention of their unit's name, in those years, would bring tears to the eyes of grateful Americans.
Now only four survive.
After Japan 's sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, with the United States reeling and wounded, something dramatic was needed to turn the war effort around.
Even though there were no friendly airfields close enough to Japan for the United States to launch a retaliation, a daring plan was devised. Sixteen B-25s were modified so that they could take off from the deck of an aircraft carrier. This had never before been tried -- sending such big, heavy bombers from a carrier.
The 16 five-man crews, under the command of Lt. Col. James Doolittle, who himself flew the lead plane off the USS Hornet, knew that they would not be able to return to the carrier. They would have to hit Japan and then hope to make it to China for a safe landing.
But on the day of the raid, the Japanese military caught wind of the plan. The Raiders were told that they would have to take off from much farther out in the Pacific Ocean than they had counted on. They were told that because of this they would not have enough fuel to make it to safety.
And those men went anyway.
They bombed Tokyo , and then flew as far as they could. Four planes crash-landed; 11 more crews bailed out, and three of the Raiders died. Eight more were captured; three were executed. Another died of starvation in a Japanese prison camp. One crew made it to Russia .
The Doolittle Raid sent a message from the United States to its enemies, and to the rest of the world: We will fight. And, no matter what it takes, we will win.
Of the 80 Raiders, 62 survived the war. They were celebrated as national heroes, models of bravery. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer produced a motion picture based on the raid; "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo," starring Spencer Tracy and Van Johnson, was a patriotic and emotional box-office hit, and the phrase became part of the national lexicon. In the movie-theater previews for the film, MGM proclaimed that it was presenting the story "with supreme pride."
Beginning in 1946, the surviving Raiders have held a reunion each April, to commemorate the mission. The reunion is in a different city each year. In 1959, the city of Tucson , Arizona , as a gesture of respect and gratitude, presented the Doolittle Raiders with a set of 80 silver goblets. Each goblet was engraved with the name of a Raider.
Every year, a wooden display case bearing all 80 goblets is transported to the reunion city. Each time a Raider passes away, his goblet is turned upside down in the case at the next reunion, as his old friends bear solemn witness.
Also in the wooden case is a bottle of 1896 Hennessy Very Special cognac. The year is not happenstance: 1896 was when Jimmy Doolittle was born.
There has always been a plan: When there are only two surviving Raiders, they would open the bottle, at last drink from it, and toast their comrades who preceded them in death.
As 2013 began, there were five living Raiders; then, in February, Tom Griffin passed away at age 96. What a man he was. After bailing out of his plane over a mountainous Chinese forest after the Tokyo raid, he became ill with malaria, and almost died. When he recovered, he was sent to Europe to fly more combat missions. He was shot down, captured, and spent 22 months in a German prisoner of war camp.
The selflessness of these men, the sheer guts ... there was a passage in the Cincinnati Enquirer obituary for Mr. Griffin that, on the surface, had nothing to do with the war, but that emblematizes the depth of his sense of duty and devotion:"When his wife became ill and needed to go into a nursing home, he visited her every day. He walked from his house to the nursing home, fed his wife and at the end of the day brought home her clothes. At night, he washed and ironed her clothes. Then he walked them up to her room the next morning. He did that for three years until her death in 2005."
So now, out of the original 80, only four Raiders remain: Dick Cole (Doolittle's co-pilot on the Tokyo raid), Robert Hite, Edward Saylor and David Thatcher. All are in their 90s. They have decided that there are too few of them for the public reunions to continue.
The events in Fort Walton Beach this week will mark the end. It has come full circle; Florida 's nearby Eglin Field was where the Raiders trained in secrecy for the Tokyo mission. The town is planning to do all it can to honor the men: a six-day celebration of their valor, including luncheons, a dinner and a parade.
Do the men ever wonder if those of us for whom they helped save the country have tended to it in a way that is worthy of their sacrifice? They don't talk about that, at least not around other people. But if you find yourself near Fort Walton Beach this week, and if you should encounter any of the Raiders, you might want to offer them a word of thanks. I can tell you from first hand observation that they appreciate hearing that they are remembered.
The men have decided that after this final public reunion they will wait until a later date -- some time this year -- to get together once more, informally and in absolute privacy. That is when they will open the bottle of brandy. The years are flowing by too swiftly now; they are not going to wait until there are only two of them. They will fill the four remaining upturned goblets. And raise them in a toast to those who are gone.
