The Dunning-Kruger Effect

Once in awhile an old pal from the frozen north-western hills publishes something that is a must read and I fell compelled to pass it on for your benefit. Enjoy learning how much we don't know.

"The problem of the Dunning-Kruger Effect still rears its ugly head though, in the establishment of those standards. What defines an acceptable performance metric? Someone who served in Iraq, was never in a gunfight outside of one of the metropolitan areas of that country, and never saw the opportunity to make a shot on a bad guy, past 100 meters, may consider 100 meters to be an acceptable standard of performance. At the same time, there are a lot of papers coming out of the Army War College, with Afghanistan veteran officers, many with competitive marksmanship backgrounds as well, who are positing that anything less than everyone being able to shoot at 500 meters, is an unacceptably low standard."

Je suis Charlie

I have mentioned this before, see my post from a few weeks ago about the Islamic terrorist training camps here in America. They are spread out strategically  for a reason. That being to have access to rural areas so surveillance is difficult and yet have access to the largest population areas in case they want to go operational. With the recent murders in France any idiot can see what their intentions are.
Anyone who still says it is a religion of peace or that most muslims are moderate is more than an idiot.

Pamela Geller, author of the Atlas Shrugs blog and the book “Stop the Islamization of America,” has been following the militant training compounds since 2007.

Most of the recruits living at these communes are African-Americans who converted to Islam while doing hard time in state or federal prisons, Geller says. They have operated “under the not-so-watchful eye” of the FBI since the early 1980s, she says, but few Americans are aware of their existence all these years later.

A 2007 FBI record states that members of the group have been involved in at least 10 murders, one disappearance, three firebombings, one attempted firebombing, two explosive bombings and one attempted bombing.

“The documented propensity for violence by this organization supports the belief the leadership of the MOA extols membership to pursue a policy of jihad or holy war against individuals or groups it considers enemies of Islam, which includes the U.S. Government,” the document states. “Members of the MOA are encouraged to travel to Pakistan to receive religious and military/terrorist training from Sheikh Gilani.”

The document also says Muslims of America is now “an autonomous organization which possesses an infrastructure capable of planning and mounting terrorist campaigns overseas and within the U.S.”

Read Velociworld'a essay "What is to be done?" if you want to figure out, what is to be done.

And while we are at it what is to be done about the other threat within our borders ? The ones who made all this possible.

French Jihadist

We will see more of the examples set by jihadists recently in France occurring here
in the west. A group of citizens who have been active for years, Bloc Identitaire, has
been telling the French people to wake up and do something about this threat to their
country. It has been brought to them by leftist socialism and it is the same pattern of
government happening in America. I think history will record this as a turning point
in our culture much like the British on Lexington Green and the capture of Fort Sumter.
That is, if we have a history left to record. Its looking pretty doubtful.

Here is all the proof I need that Islam will not conquer us. A copy of Charlie Hebdo sells now for $500 on Ebay. Show me a Koran or a musloid newspaper that sells for $500.

Heaven or Hell ?

Now that combat operations in Afghanistan have ended officially, there is a lot of discussion about whether our asymmetric warfare and counter-terror efforts made any difference because the Taliban is just going to move back in and take over again. True, they are already starting. One of their main revenue sources is opium growing and this year it reached an all time high. Estimates say ninety percent of the world's heroin is produced there. What we tried to do was change their historically bloody and tragic past to something more akin to ours. It did work in small doses and select areas where we had a strong presence but it won't last long after we are gone. Like the 1889 Russian samovar I brought home after liberating it from a Kabul souk, this video is a soon to be a relic of our involvement there. I have deep sorrow for the American men and women who were killed and mangled there and for the indigenous Afghanistan people who have withstood the past twenty years of the Taliban inhabiting their land, most of whom are foreigners themselves. Its a safe bet to say we will be going back again, hopefully by then we will have a government which understands how to actually help the people.

I know they could have developed the kind of advanced civilization demonstrated each year at the Smithsonian Museum by my old Alma Mata, the USAF. This performance is from 2013. We could have at least stayed until we got them off to a good start. Who knows ? What is known is they will return to being a hell-on-earth now and that skateboarding school will disappear into history.
Here is the USAF flash mob for 2014:
